Cummins and Valve cover

Hi Dave,
I also ordered a red cummins isb valve cover. I would check with different cummins dealers even if it's far away. I got mine at Cummins West Inc. in west Sacramento,CA. Call them. Their number is
1-916-371-0630. Hope this helps.

My Cummins here just paints them the Dodge Red and then grinds off the top lettering etc. Looks real sharp

This is a little off the subject... . What is the proper way to tighten down the valve cover? Do I need to torque it or do I just tighten it until the bolt bottoms out?

My Cummins dealer couldn't find it either until I gave him the part number. This is the part number for the red Cummins Valve Cover. 3943668 Hope this helps.

Dave, I believe only your Cummins dealer will be able to supply you with the Cummins valve cover (not the Dodge/Cummins valve cover). Different design, different casting.

An interesting side note: As I have all three now (OE '98. 5, OE '00, and the Cummins red valve cover), there is a dramatic weight difference between them. The OE '98. 5 weighs 7. 6 lbs. , the Cummins red valve cover weighs 7. 75 lbs. and the OE '00 (black) valve cover weighs about 4. 2 lbs. #ad

Dave, you should be able to get your local Cummins parts guy to order the valve cover #3943668, and then they can tell how long it'll take to get one.
Mine took 3 weeks, once they put an order in. Don't settle for waiting for stock to be available, get an order in.
