Does anyone know what this motor is ?

I saw two of these engines on stands at northwestern college in ohio.

The engines look like a regular 12v but have spark plugs and are gassers

It is designed to run on LNG (Liquified Natural Gas). It takes a spark to provide the timing to make it run.

They use them in the oil and gas industry to drive natural gas compressors. In that application, the engines run on natural gas (methane) - they burn what they pump.



They also can see service in industrial gensets (baseload or emergency standby) where a supply of natural gas, butane, propane, etc. is available.
