Cummins B in 73-79 Ford anybody?

Hope I don't get run out of town on a rail for asking this as my first post but here goes:
Several years ago I put a 6. 9 Navistar in a 75 F250 4X4. After learning about cavitation erosion the expensive way, it was put back on gas and all was sold.
I have been toying with the thought of trying to stick a Cummins B in a 78 or 79 F250/F350 4X4. Has anyone out there tried this including aftercooler?

Scot, I have seen the CUMMINS B5. 9 in a 1986 Chev and in a Ford it took some work they said if a person was to do the swap, that the person should get all the parts out of the same pick-up. You may want to talk to c-series-man ,he put a CUMMINS C8. 3 in a1995 Ford. He may have an idea for you. I know he hangs out in the 2nd gen. form he sounds like he know a thing or two about the job.

yea he had pics of the install as well. Nice looking ride. Only other one was a guy in Fla who had a conversion of a F-350 running with the Orig ZF 5 speed it was a shop that did the swap tho. Mike

I have two older brothers both of them have put a six cylinder Isuzu in 79 Fords. They had a length problem and ended up not useing the engin fan but two electrics instead. other that that.

A B5. 9TA fits nicely in a 84 F-250. Compare the dimentions of a 84 with a 73-78, that should give you a good idea if it will fit.
