Diesel truck racing

f-350 conversion

Well I spent the weekend tearing apart my old Crew Cab:( and started on building my new one :p. Got most of the 4X4 conversion done, and working on completely gutting the new crew cab interior(my yard looks like a Dodge junk yard right now). I hope to have the cab sand blasted and primed by next weekend if the weather holds out. I hope to have some photos posted of the 4X4 conversion so that the guys who have been asking how to, will have a better idea what they are getting into. The guy who bought my old cab is putting it on a 92 Cummins extended cab frame(so my old truck rides again:D ). I also told him about TDR and he will be joining soon(told him not to blame me when he gets the bombing bug ;) ). Also the guy I got my Crew Cab from has a few more Crew Cabs he is selling 1983-1974, so if anyone is interested, let me know and I will give you his phone number(I think I talked him into joining TDR so he can build his own Crew Cab Diesel) So if anyone would like to attend my Cummins Crew Cab Conversion 101 class let meknow(I am always on the lookout for cheap labor:rolleyes: ).

Hey CrewCab, WhyYesInDeeDeeIDo... Any chance that you could have the classes scheduled over here in Arizona & could you please include a lecture on converting the Ford CrewCab also to the Cummins.

Thanks,

Backroad... . ;) ;) ;) :D

Sorry can't take it on the road, would need a large semi to haul it all. I just got the 4X4 conversion done,

All new springs /bushings /gear box etc. So now the new crew cab has 4 wheels again:D . I am also going to put in the A pillar update from Dodge. Tommorow if the weather holds I am unbolting the cab and laying it on its back so I can sand blast off the little surface rust that the truck has. Having the cab out of the way will also make the drivetrain install much easier like drilling the new holes for the trans crossmember. I am taking photos of all of this and will be posting them soon.

I'm all for a tutorial on how your doing this. What kind of fabrication expertise is needed to convert the truck to a 4x4? As I've followed along with everyone's project, I've come to see that the Cummins swap is almost a bolt in with a few holes to drill. Am I wrong?

Things needed for 4X2 to 4X4 conversion.

1st, a donor truck for parts and measurements.

2nd, one good tape measure.

3rd, 1 set of good drill bits.

4th, some time and patience;)

5th, and most important DO NOT listen to people who say its not worth it, or it can't be done !!!! They are completely full of bull**** !!!

If you are interested in doing a 4X4 conversion/Cummins conversion, let me know. I will be posting photos and some notes in what it takes.

Kyle
