Cummins B in 73-79 Ford anybody?

RAM Suburban?

I just finished my front brakes on my CTD conversion into my 84 crew cab when I looked under the front and noticed my center link is touching the oil pan. When I replaced the center link in my 92 CTD, it called for a different one for a CTD powered. Do you think it is as simple as getting a 89 or so center link or do you have to replace the whole tie rod assemble and all. What did you do crewcabdesiel on your conversion? Is yours a 2 or 4 wd?
Someone had asked earlier what was involved in swapping to 1 ton type wheels from 3/4 type. I used the hubs from my 76 1 ton parts truck and they just bolted in. The bearings and spindles are all the same.

You got me, mine has the 85 OEM steering linkage and my clearence is fine(you had me worried, had to go out and check)I am running a Dana/Spicer 60 front axle that came with the 1985 w350 crew cab that I used for a donor truck. My springs are beefed up a little bit an extra 2 springs added, but I am still a little below stock height(my wife is 5'2" and now has a problem getting in, might have something to do with her being 36 weeks pregant #ad

The center link used on the CTD truck is different than the one from a gasser. The proper center link has a drop in it to clear the oil pan, it is also made from larger diameter material. When I replaced my centerlink last May the jobber got the wrong part in for me, there is a specific listing for the diesel engine. The tie rods may also be larger as well, there is a standard and a heavy duty tie rod. The adjusting sleeve is shorter on the heavy duty, and the inboard tie rod end is longer than the outboard one.

When I changed the centerlink, I too was given the one for <4000lbs/gas front end. The tapers on the tierod ends are smaller than the 4000lbs/diesel version. You might have to scavange more pieces.

After about an hour with the parts man, I have decided that everything in the front end is diff on the diesel. I will have to change tie rod ends and outer ball joint to spidle bracket. I think I will skin this cat another way. My motor in my 92 is 1" higher by measuring to the fan than my conversion truck. Since the pan is just barely touching the centerlink, I think I will put 1/4" spacers under the motor mounts and raise the engine. I will look for the diesel parts at the local yard to make the swap when the gas stuff wears out. Have any of you guys who converted a gas truck had problems with tie rod ends breaking or wearing out to quick?
