4bt - Jeep Cherokee?

4BTA bell housing pattern & Why not Mercedes?

My brother has a 4bt. 3. 9 cubic inch, 105 horse power Cummins diesel engine. It includes 4 speed transmission, drive shaft, turbo, and other parts. He said it does not have an inline fuel pump. He wants $3,000. 00, do you think this is a good price. The motor has about 45,000 miles on it. Thanks David.

{P. S. Looking for phone numbers of parts dealer that deal with use cummins engines. I have a few phone number from this web site. Any that you have would be appreciated. }

Sounds high to me...

about $2000 is more on par.

this places sells them...

Neosho Truck Parts in Neosho WI, about an hour westnorthwest of Milwaukee,

920-625-3261, ask for Mark.

I called them and they have 4bt w/th400s for ~$1700 and tons of 19. 5" wheels for ~$60 ea.

I just looked at what sound slike the same setup for $1000, maybe I should not wait too long to buy it... . the guy was alos selling a whole running bakery truck with this setup for $2,500

I'd like to know where you guys are finding these good deals on these Frito-Lay and/or bakery trucks.....

I must be looking in the wrong places, but all the 4BT's I have found are low HP ( I want the inline pump... ) and HIGH $$.....

see the earlier post. . has a PH#

Yeah, that's why I wrote my reply..... that place is in WI... . I'm in MA... cost to ship a 4BT would soon equal its purchase price.

I'm gonna try the local boneyards... . it's worth a shot.

Thanks!

Matt

Can someone tell me who the manufacturer is that makes the Frito Lay box vans? I'm soing a search for those, but don't know who makes the box van.

Chevy chassis... the reason for the TH400 transmission.

figured that was probably the case, but heck they put 400's behind AMC 360's in Jeeps, so I figured I better ask to make sure. .

thanks

I believe Grumman makes the van bodies for the potato chip trucks.

If you get a 4BT from a GM chassis van, it has a GM pattern flywheel cover so any GM transmission will bolt to it. The vans came with either a TH400 or a SM465 4 speed.

4BT's with SM465 4-Sale

I have no affiliation with this company/dude/whoever this # connects to..... I just found the ad in the Want-Ad

Look for the typos: :p

"4-4BBL TURBO CUMMINS ENGS. Compl takeout w/4-spd trans. $1000 ea; (Tyngsboro, MA) (978)-649-6584"

Just passing along some info... . these 4BT's are pretty easy to come by if you look in the right places... . now I know where to find 'em... . !

Matt

The guy's name is Frank, the motot has the rotary pump and 4 speed trans, he has a few, I may buy 1 soon, before you guy get a chance to, he has a whole truck for sale also, same setup, he has a parts engine with an aftercooler manifold.....

Too bad they have the rotary pumps on 'em..... darn.

The aftercooled manifold could be neat for anyone wanting to use it in a marine application or that wanted to use an air/water intercooler (aftercooler) setup instead of air/air.
