Cummins Distributors

Can someone explain how distributors fit into the picture of our Ram pickups? I don't have a lot of confidence in my two local dealers (I won't say stealers - they're more inept than dishonest anyway) but I do have a local Cummins distributor, who advertises as a a full service location, meaning parts and service. I'm thinking about using them for maintenance for the engine, ie. , oil changes, etc.

I would DEFINITELY go with Cummins for engine maintenace and repair work. I have never had a warranty to work with (just traded for a 91 w/240K+), but have heard horror stories of inept and lazy dealer/ techs. As for the rest of the truck- if they will change you rfluids at Cummins, go for it. With what you said about your local dealer, they may be the type who doesnt want to work on diesels.

Cummins Shops

I had an issue with my 92 Cummins powered Ram so I took it to Cummins NorthWest and they checked out and reported back that the problem was with the Dodge part of the truck and that their was nothing they could do. At the same time, they adjusted the valves, set the pump timing and changed the filter/oil on a special.



I would recommend a Cummins shop over a dealer any day - They are competitive rate wise, the parts have less markup and I believe the are more competent.



The only down fall - They do not do warranty work since the engine warranty comes from DC.
