Crew Cab conversion ???

GM casting numbers

Would any modifications have to be done to the suspension if a 12 valve were to go in the place of a 4. 9L gasser? And also would it fit alright I am assuming the engines are about the same length?

Thanks in advance,

Doug

I think the main concern would be weight. A fully dressed 12v weighs in at close to 1000 lbs. So yes it probably would take some serious suspension mods. Also if it's a newer f-150 than hieght may also be a problem. Any thing is possible but it would take some serious $$$ and time... . Doug

For the 5. 9, just the long block weighs 970lbs... no batteries, no a/c, no radiator, no intercooler, no trans, etc... . !!! You would probably be way ahead by installing a 4cyl Cummins. You'd have more power than the gasser and the weight would be managable.

Also with the sloped hood of the F150 I think it would be pretty hard to fit a 5. 9 in there. Also, the entire driveline would have to be replaced because a 5. 9 would break an F150 transmission and rear in the in the first drive or two. JMHO
