Cetane Rating of Fuel Brands

I finally got a scanner and was able to upload my pics of my trip to Bloomsburg for the 4wheel jamboree back in '99.

The last picture that I had on the roll was this '74 F-250 that the owner had shoe horned a 12v 5. 9 Cummins into.

He said that he used the Engine, transmission(5-speed) and a NP205 t-case from an early '90's Ram. He also said that it had TST parts in it to up the power a little. He said that at the time that he took on this project that he couldn't find an installation kit nowhere and had to fab all the parts himself.

I wish that I had more film to take of this truck and it's mighty Engine. The work was a First class job.

 I clicked on your link and got this dialog: "We're sorry! The Webshots page you have requested has either moved or no longer exists. "

I tried clicking on your second link, and got this: "A problem has been detected. You do not appear to be the owner of this album.

Make sure you are logged in. "

I still get the same error dialog above with the first link.

Howdy Kat,

Unfortunately it was the last picture on the film and I had forgotten my camera at home and the fuzzy pic was from a Fuji disposable. I would've given $20 for five more pics in that camera.

He had put 350 badges on it when he installed a Dana60.

What's wierd is that the engine was tan in color like a commercial engine, but the way he put it, it was the engine that was in the RAM that he got the transmission and t-case from.

Back before there was a Dodge/Cummins, I drove an 84 Ford with the diesel. At a park in Roseburg, Or. , there was a lady traveling sales person in the park (she sold horse tack) with a truck just like mine, but under the right front headlight it has a CUMMINS sign. I went over to talk to her and it turned out she had had a cummins shop install a cummins in her ford, but she did not know a thing about it. Best I can recall, it looked about like the first gen cummins set up in our rams. She said it performed much better pulling her fiver than the International had. That was the start of my wanting a Cummins.

If you are interested in running a Cummins in a Ford or Chevy the Diesel Conversion guys seem to have a good thing going, although I think their website used to be called "fordcummins.com" and they only did Ford conversions. Check out their Cummins Engine Information page. They really like the old 12 valves for ease of conversion, but also the 2003 - early 2004 common rail engines. Not to keen on the 2006 5.9 – Newer 6.7 Common Rail engines, as you might expect. They consider them to not be "conversion friendly".:-laf They also talk about, but don't recommend using the Cummins industrial engines, which is something I don't think I would have considered anyway, although it might be cool if you were making Tractorzilla, the Tractor of Death.

Thanks what I was actually looking for was any information and pictures regarding 8.3 Cummins, 466DT or other big power, big displacement Diesel engine powered Ford, Dodge, or Chevy pickup trucks. I'm planning on using one of the above mentioned pickup trucks for a Humvee/Hummer conversion. I had just noticed the 8.3 Cummins that was shoved in a Ford pickup. Or the 3500 Dodge Ram with a twin turbo 8.3 Cummins.

7 years ago i installed a 5.9 [6bt] into a 99' gmc 3500hd i had bought with a supposed bad 6.5 engine.. The conversion was actually quite easy to do, and i have had zero issue's with the combination.. My next conversion will be a 5.9 into a 03' f-450, if the 6.0 will ever give up..The only difference this time is the 5.9 will be an international engine, and an allison auto..
