My brother and I just bought 4 1992 Blue Bird Buses with the 12v cummins with the 7100 pump. I am looking for engine specs on these buses compared to my 98 12v. If they would have possibly have 60# valve springs, or bigger injectors, or anything bigger, I could swap into my 98?

What does the engine data plate say? Should be able to go off of the CPL and decipher what it has. . (or doesn't).

'99 Bluebird airport shuttle w/ Cummins 5.9

I'm looking at a '99 Bluebird that was a Budget Rental airport shuttle. It has a 5. 9l 6B non-turbo. Wondering what it would take to add a turbo..... ?

Non turbo? I may be wrong, but weren't all 5. 9's turbocharged?

Turbo, or not turbo.... that is the question

Sorry, bad pun.

I had hoped it was turbo, but it doesn't appear to be.....

(trying to add photos... . we'll see if it works)

Give us a pic from behind the alternator. Judging from the way that tubed is piped into the intake and that other bigger tube up above the engine snaking into the general area, I say it's a turbo.

it looks like a side radiator, or top which would explain the piping. I do not beleive that you can get a non turbo isb. we see busses all day and I am yet to see or hear of one non turbo

Take a look at the pic on the right, then compare the 2 pics where the inlet tube/hose appears to be heading. The big pipe overhead appears to go down there also. I still say it has a turbo!

yeah that looks like a intake tube to an air filter. it really looks like it snot turbo, but like I said I havent seen one, ever. and I work for Cummins

The bus is a '99, so it should be a 24v. I'm planning on going out to pick it up the end of the month.

I had contacted Bluebird, & they e-mailed me the line ticket. It shows the engine as "ENG/TRANS,CUMN ISB 190HP W/AT545".

For a '99, if it has a turbo, shouldn't the HP be higher?

This is the only other engine shot I have right now.

Thought it would make a good conversion for an RV. Primarily, the wheelchair lift is what caught my attention. It's a power stow-away in the staircase.

We have some of those at work. Yes, it has a turbo. The intake tube goes down next to the manifold, and the pipe you see going to the intake is from the intercooler. Just can't see the other piping in the pics.
