Went to the Auto Show last night and talked to the Dodge rep about the possibility of a Cummins in the Powerwagon. Rep said that this topic has generated a lot of interest and that it will be happening and to look for it in the fall.
I think that I would take that with a grain of salt considering that there is next to no room from the condenser/radiator/intercooler assembly to the bumper. Unlike the hemi that has about a good foot of clearance to work with. The only way I see this coming to market is with a different bumper.
I went to Detroit yesterday and saw a Power Wagon on display. I wanted to ask about the Cummins, but there were no factory reps present. The Power Wagon seems nice, but with the winch buried behind the bumper how do you make sure the cable respools evenly?
I took a close look at the electronic sway bar disconnects... interesting.
I asked one of the Truck Engineers I work with about the Power Wagon and CTD issue. There was a lot of disscussion about adding the CTD to the package, but it would yet anothe rintercooler, radiator, and a host of other special parts. DCX at the time decided not to invest in the package as it was getting too complicated. As far as I am aware right now, DCX has no plans yet to put a CTD in the Power Wagon. If they do, we'll be the first ones to see it because we will have to do Bumper Testing and Impact testing on the new config. I wouldn't go by whata Dealer Rep has to say, they usually are a step behind what is happening with future product.
