I've noticed several vendors selling Cummins Insight 7. 5 software on ebay for reasonable prices ($75-80) - including a Pro level license key. The Inline adapters are the expensive part ($500-700). Is this worth getting or is there a less expensive alternative that provides similar functionality? I've seen a PC based product called AutoEnginuity OBD2 Scan Tool that seems very capable and is reasonably priced.

Does anyone have experience with these tools to give a recommendation?

Thanks!

They are good, if you drive/work on Big Rigs, but not for Dodges. You also need to subscribe to it site annually. Shad

And the annual fee is where they make their money back.....

But if you work on a variety of cummins powered equipment it could pay off. It will work for dodge trucks, but only covers the engine and the obd 2 adapter could be spendy.

Our Ram engines use entirely different software programming than an ISB6. 7 or ISB5. 9 engine used in MDTs or other applications. I don't see how products intended for other applications would be of any benefit.

I was told by a tech at Cummins in Rock Springs that they haven't been able to communicate with the ECM in the Dodge application since the CR came out in '03.

It seems that the stealerships were losing too much money and they started using software that was Dodge specific... Same reason why a Dodge dealer can't do anything with a Sterling Bullet. All of the parts are interchangeable, but programming is not.

As Mike stated above you can not use the cummins insite on a Dodge. I've tried using it on my truck with no luck, and was later told they are not compatible in the later trucks by a Cummins trainer.

Id be curious to see what 75 bucks on ebay gets you. I know we pay alot more than that. There is a basic version of insite that allows you to scan codes & monitor data, but you cant clear inactive codes or do any diagnostic testing with it.
