Unusual Italian Diesel by DC

More power with a IH 8.3?

Man, these things are odd looking beasts... . #ad

On this page, they explain the benefits of such a design. That page was found by looking in this TDR thread.

"Better Performance Begins With The Piston.

The premium Monotherm® piston with its one-piece forged-steel design has many advantages over the original articulated design.

Increased Durability - The piston's strength is from forged steel that provides maximum resistance to metal fatigue.

Lower Weight - The cutting-edge design of the piston not only provides increased strength, but does it with less weight than the original.

Quieter Cold Starts - Tighter piston-to-liner fit reduces piston "slap" during cold engine start-ups.

Superior Oil Control - A new ring pack with rectangular second ring minimizes oil usage. "

I'll take a custom set for a 6BT, please.

Hmmm, yup, took a lot at them when they first came about. Cummins thinks a lot of them, and it is a bit weird to see them going to a single piece piston after most of the heavy-duty engines have been running two-parters for a long time. When the ISX is unleashed with the "new" fuel system that they are going to put on it, I believe that it will be untouchable. The nex ISL is another beast that will have to be reckoned with by the competition. I am not trying to bash anything, but I have seen things that most people have yet to, and they are good :D :D :D
