Competition Ford doing a wheelie!!!

the latest issue of DIESEL POWER has a cover story that features a "CUMMINS KILLER" ,a 1500hp powerstroke. so I went all the way back to page 162 to find a competition pulling truck called "double overtime". It is a BIG dollar purpose built vehicle that is "competitive with the Dodges". it also has an extremely massaged custom engine. The part I liked the least is there is no proof other than the owners say-so that the motor makes 1500hp! But it's in print so it must be so. Funny ,the very next page has an ad for "the worlds fastest powerstroke" @ 10. 86 & 124. 5mph huh...

Yea it's funny how the media is. Remember the writers typically don't know squat.

I like it when I go to a diesel getogether and it's 90 percent Cummins and Ford Cummins transplants... a bunch of Powerstrokes and one or two Dmaxes.

The Superduty really is an awesome looking rig and the mags like to put the pics up. It sells rags.

You don't know how many times I was walked up to and told how they really have a secret desire to own a Cummins.

Happened to me!

That is easy to believe.

You can buy a performance cummins motor and it will come with papers that prove it did 1800 on an engine dyno. Subtract the percentage of loss through the drivetrain and your at that figure easily, then take into account that truck won a lot this past year aginst motors I bet are putting out more then 1800 on an engine dyno. just my two cents. I say it's got more then that

I love reading those magazines just to see whats new out there and to get new ideas. I always take them with a grain of salt though, cause I know the writers aren't always the smartes when it comes to the technical stuff though.

I thought that truck was super cool though. Its nice to see something different like that once in awhile. Just goes to show, you can do anything if you have the money. The thing sure does sound good when he winds it up though:)

I have had my share of issues with magazines in the past wrong pictures, wrong info, etc... makes you wonder why they just don't ask in order to get it right.

I seen that truck pull at the 2007 DHRA event in Houston. Here are some links to the pictures I took. The announcer said it was the most powerful power stroke in the US. Take a look at the picture below. That truck had no problems pulling the complete length of the track.

This picture and the next 22 is it pulling the sled.

It's pull

After it pulled Haisley's truck pulled and the front end locked up, here is a shot of the tack, it turned just a few RPM's

@ 7K+ RPM's

Enjoy the pictures.

I just think FACTS are nice sometimes.

Well, the fact is that that truck laid the whoop on several bad-daddy Cummins mod pullers this year on a few occasions... ... . ask anyone who follows the modified pullers... they will tel you the same. I know the fella that wrote the article. He did a pretty fair job IMO

Guess this part threw me off Scott:D

You and I posted at the same time except you were faster :D

I meant zstroken's post about the Mac pump, and I was implying that perhaps AFoulk was being sarcastic, not you Bro :D

O. K. I'll admit I'm obviously not a big pulling fan (almost never see it in the N. E. area) or I would have known this was written within the "norm" for pulling as the proof is in the winning and not a data sheet. It surprises me though that if these 1800hp motors are out there, why aren't they used in drag racing or brought out for dyno days? I do like that there is innovation here and (like any motorsport)it will hopefully trickle down to the street level where it actually matters. After all they somehow justify indy cars as R&D for street car manufacturers.

P. S. How much "stock" stuff is left in the 1800hp Cummins motors?

Although it is far from a Powerstroke IMO (It has mechanical injection), it is very true ;)

You can get a dyno sheet if you buy one :-laf Pullers are a peculiar breed that don't give out too much info if they don't have to. There are a few pulling -style motors in drag trucks and rails, but they are not quite as wild as what you may find in a mod truck.

Remember, a drag engine has to accelerate, and rev from 1500-5000 (or whatever. In a Pulling application, the motor is reved to x and then you let the clutch out pulling the motor backwards... It is a different application.

As far as stuck stuff, It depends on the builder. A certain few high HP guys from TN and GA run stock headbolts on some pretty stupid motors.

dockboy, the "funny" came from the idea that if there were 1500+ hp PS motors out there 10. 86 seems a bit low. but Timbeaux shed some light there.

I wasn't being sarcastic about the Mack pump. The article in the magazine stated that it was a pump outta an International 700ci engine. Now, once again, I'm only stating what info the article gave me. They could be wrong:) (that was sarcasm :))

And I don't wanna give anyone the idea that I'm a powerjoke fan, I just think its cool to see someone doing something different. I think that kinda stuff is good for the sport.
