Competition Ford doing a wheelie!!!

Daily drivers........

I think that these mags should feature "Most horsepeower on daily drivers" . They have a simuliar feature in "Hotrod" mag (their sister mag), with cars driving to and from drag strip. See how many of these radical Powerstrokes and Duramaxes can cut the mustard.....

Don't get me wrong, I think its great that someone has the money to completely turn a stock diesel into something that has nothing in common except the nameplate, but really how long are these engines going to hang, and they are all put back on the trailer at the end of the day... .

I was thinking about subscribing to the mag, but it seems pretty biased towards Cheby and Pfords... ...

Right!:-laf

I am by no means a upper end performance tuner, and I too think its cool that someone is doing it "their" way. I AM a big Cummins fan for reasons that are mine. I have conversations with people about Diesel perfomance with people of varying outlooks and opinions. My issue with "some" Ford and Chevy fans is they tend to live vicariously through the stand outs of their brand favorites. And run their mouths and not their trucks.

Tech wise, those are some very trick parts and although cubic volumes of $$$$ are needed, Thats not all it takes. Check your local power strokes and see how much these guys spend and the rewards are ,,,,,,,,, subjective?

Diesel Power is a magazine, a business, (they have and are building Cummins project trucks) the Cummins camp hasn't seen a whole lot of change to brag about lately. The other brands have new engine designs and new parts and combos to try. While the Cummins (even the 6. 7) remains tried and true in that a turbo+tuner+injectors=big power daily driver. The other guys are still cutting their teeth and experimenting. That is interesting and sells magazines to the larger market who are still learning about the power of diesel. I quoted their title because it has the same effect here that it did on me, I had to read the article and see about the news. I applaud the competion when they deserve it, without it there would be no point to doing better, we'd all have the same set up for the job intended, HOW BORING!! So yes, build a better Pstroke,Dmax, whatever as I'm sure we're all tired of beating the old ones!:-laf

I wanted to ask if any of you know why they sectioned the heads out to weld up the oil and fuel galleries when they (I think) could have machined some adapters to fit in the place of the HEUI injectors? I know structuraly more material means more strength, but cutting and welding doesn't usually lend itself well in this situation.

I think I would have kept the fluid passages for added cooling.

Superficial?

I am happy that the Pfords and Chebys are catching up in power, but, it seems a little superficial to only show THEIR big attempts at power and no built Dodge to grace the pages of their Magazine. Of course this is the first mag I have read, may be the last if no change is seen next month. . Of course the title of "Cummins killer" on the front page, describing a truck that has no official dyno, yet SAYS it is making over 1500 HP... ... . We have a couple of Dodges that hit the 1200+ mark last May... . Of course we could SAY they were North of 1500? Set up is the main course as far as pullers go, you can have a heck of a puller with a lower HP if it hits the RPM/wheel speed right and if you are set up correctly.

I think you are missing something. You do not dyno a Mod pulling truck on a chassis dyno... ... they have 1 gear. They run the motors on an engine dyno. The sheets exist as well, but you probably will not see them in print. Like I said, pullers aren't as likely to publish that stuff. Also, the 1200+ from last may was nitrous assisted as well.

Have you seen the Mod trucks pull in person? If you have not, I highly recommend doing so. It might change your opinion.
