Joe Donnelly, you sparked my interest with the ISB marine injectors. Can you give any indication if they would work and be ready for sale in our Ram ISBs? With so many people upgrading their engines past the 300 rwhp mark, I think it would be appropriate to change to 370 hp injectors (since that is about what the modified ram engine would be at the flywheel). Do you have an estimate of the cost? How much more power is to be expected with the 370 hp injectors as opposed to the 275 hp injectors? If others have similar questions, please post. I'm sure I'm not the only interested one. Thanks.
Piers, please feel free to comment as well.

Regards,
Michael

The 370 hp marine was a 12 valve, but these injectors are indeed awesome in highly fueled 12 valves with other stuff such as 18. 5 cm2 turbine housing, low restriction muffler, etc. Cost more and hard to get, but worth the wait. I can scrounge a couple more sets (new of course, not worn out and rebuilt).

The ISB marine injectors are 325 hp, and again, they will be great as long as the spray pattern is OK--will know in a couple weeks after we get a set and test them. I prefer new Bosch parts over worn and rehoned stuff, even if the honing also increases flow. I've seen cases where the rebuilt stuff leaks after a while, causing plenty of grief. Injectors aren't magic, and you can increase flow and hp with honing out the holes, adding or boring out holes by edm, or by selecting genuine Bosch injectors that were set up originally with more or bigger holes for more flow. Where possible, I prefer the last approach. Just my opinion.

Joeseph,
In TDR issue 25, you said in your article "Prescriptions for Power"... ... ... .
The 275hp injectors would give an increase of about 40 hp and 60-80 ft lbs torque in the 24 valve. Can you tell me just how noticeable this is while driving? Does it do much in the seat of the pants?
For some reason I've got this thing about having the injectors matched more closely than the factory does and if I could feel the extra power (or smoother power)I think I might go for the Bosch's.
Thanks,
Ron

More details on the 275 hp injectors for the 24 valve: about 30 hp/60 ft lb in stick Rams, and 50 hp, 100 ft lb in automatics. Yes, it is noticeable, and particularly attractive since owners have reported better mpg too--on the order of 1. 5 mpg.

We will let the forum know as soon as we have determined the suitability of marine injectors for the 24 Valve.

Theres always the chance of getting an injector that leaks... or stays open, whether it be REbuilt [not sure who does this], stock from Bosche [had 2 myself], and even with the superior 'flowed' injectors that are brand new, matched and REfined. One has to study all the approaches and have an open mind to new technology. Afterall, thats what all the major manfacturers are doing or we'd still be driving stuff unchanged from the dyno-saur era... heheheheh

Any problem with cylinder washing with the 370 marine injectors?
