I was wondering if some of the knowlegable Cummins owners could help me out on two topics.

1. I am new to Central Florida and would like some help in finding a dependable mechanic for my truck that would know how to do upgrades also.

2. What should be my first upgrades to my truck. I bought it new in 2000, but have not had the time to do anything to it. I have 40k on it with no problems. But would like to start the process of upgrading. I only use it to hunt and fish, sometimes I will pull a 6 x10 trailer. I am looking for a little more power and would like to beef up the transmission. Suggestions?

let the bombing began

Well first of all, the last thing you want to do is let someone else work on your truck if at all possible. A good mechanic is very hard to find. (no offense to all you mechanics out there ;) ) if you want to add just a little bit of power (around 65 horse) I would recommend the EZ box by Edge Products. It's very easy to install. takes around five minutes if I remember correctly. you must have an automatic transmission if you're considering upgrades. :D I would do a search on automatic transmissions, I'm sure you'll find a wealth of information their. Good luck. :)

mechanic in central florida

seminole: i live in s. w. florida and cannot answer your question. what i can tell you is the central florida group meets about every 6 weeks. the next meeting is sat. , april 6th at the chassis masters garage at appx. noon. there is another post under the event or clubs section. they are an rv shop which does indeed do performance upgrades. there is also a guy named bob riley who usually shows up who handles the power puck. there have been some postings about the puck. don't have it , can't recommend it. the meeting place is on rt. 50 east(i believe) 0f i 75 north of i-4 exchange. this riley guy has a shop east of orlando and we had a prior meeting at his new place of business. hate to repeat but do a search on : central florida tdr, bob riley and/ or look for the previous posting. i believe the club president lives in the inverness area. hope this helps. bruce

Upgrades

seminole,

First, welcome to the land of the TDR:D

Many upgrades are fairly simple and can be done even if you have only minor mechanical skills.

Get together with brucew and your local chapter. I am sure you will find many experienced mechanics to guide and assist you in the process of BOMBing:D
