Cummins N14 Celect/ Engine Brake question

Hey y'all, I have a 2000 Pete 379 extended hood with the 'Big Red Peckerhead' 500 Cummins N14 Celect... I am curious if you can switch between the different stages of the jakes while the engine brake is operating... For example, say you are rolling down the pass into Laughlin NV, have it on stage 3, and it's slowing you down too much... can you just switch it to level 2 while its still doing its job, or will it harm something?? I hate tapping on the clutch just to switch it, cause you lose all the turbo boost that makes the jake work more efficiently... I am sure someone can chime in on here... . Thanks,

yes you can change to any level you wish without harming anything. all your doing by switching the selector switch is changing how many solenoids is receiving voltage from the ecm

I figured you could, but was not sure... It sure does sound sweet with 7" straight stacks, at about 2000 RPM's, going down a 7% grade on stage 3!! That's music to my ears! I don't care if it's 20 degrees outside... those windows are going down!

No, I leave Friday, the day after thanksgiving, and I am shooting to be there Saturday night... Then I am going to fly back out to San Antonio on Sunday evening (I don't have alot of vacation) for a week or so, then fly back out to Vegas on the following Monday or Tuesday and will be there for a week or so... I know we will be torn down completely by Monday, and may leave out Tuesday, so I should have more free time this time around!



BTW, how many miles do you have on your truck now??

Only have 211k on the dually, 162k on the '93, hung up the transport deal for now and went to work full time for the county... . for now. See whats going on come springtime, miss the open road !!!:{
