Just went over to Cummins NW in Bend, Oregon. They are gone, closed for good looks like. A sign on the door says the Portland and Coburg (Eugene) branches are the alternative. Bummer, both of those are 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 hours away. Don't know what happened, but the Bend branch has been in the same location at least 20 years, maybe closer to 30 years. They will be missed.

Well, there is a couple of big rig shops, I may have to try them. I had only been getting filters there, but have also ordered from Geno's before. Cummins and Geno's were about the same price, but of course there was no shipping for the local Cummins place. I have to go to Eugene anyway next week, so will pick up some filters while I am there.

It seems unbelievable, doesn't it? I see their locations all over the place, and all at least seem to be doing OK. The Portland facility is huge, I think 3 locations, and the 2 buildings that I have seen are each substantial. The Renton facility is tiny in comparison but always looks busy ( I pass it 4 days a week).

I hate to see good companies stumbling and reducingservices and staff. :(

jmbrowning, I'm sure Mike has told you...

Cummins NW in Fife, WA. (near Tacoma, WA. for the rest of the members) closed about a year ago or so.

Shelby,

You may be surprised at the big rig shop. The one I go to has items that sell well and accessories on shelves that are convenient on the way to the parts counter. I grab a couple of Fleetguard Stratapore filters as I come in. Usually I'm out of there in just a few minutes. Their prices for filters are just a little bit less than Geno's.

Most of the big rig dealers are also Cummins dealers. I use either the Freightliner dealer or the IHC dealer in this area. They carry the Cummins filters.

I DO NOT UNDERSTAND! Bend is growing by leaps and bounds and Cummins closes? I have been getting my filters etc from the Pendleton Cummins dealer.

Politics may be involved.

For years, Cummins franchises have also had Thermo King. Recently, most Cummins houses have had to divorce themselves from Thermo King. Sometimes, the divorce is enough to force the Cummins house to close once the TK leaves.

Luckily, my local Cummins house can survive if the Thermo King franchise is pulled.

Shelby - This hurts!!!!!

Dog-Gone-It. I just used the last of my 6 filters and was going to Cummins Monday to get another supply. I also use their premix antifreeze. I'll go on over to the Freightliner shop and see if they have the Satapores. I'd do Genos but the freight is the killer. Coffee sometime?

I saw the Cummins in Bend when I stopped in town looking for a hotel this summer. I'm suprised to hear it's closed becasue that place was huge compared to the Cummins shops we have.
