For preparation in about 2 months, I will be doing my Spring/Summer maintenance on my 2020 Gen 3 EcoDiesel. I want to do coolant and oil analysis. Folks on here suggested the Cummins test kits.

Cummins shows all of the parts for testing out of stock on their website. So I decided to call the 1-800-286-6467 (1-800-CUMMINS) and spoke to a very nice gentleman in parts resources. I told him what I was looking for and he ordered up the following parts:

AMP+ - Oil Analysis Advanced Plus
CL2P - Coolant Analysis Level 2

I have to say, the service and support was beyond excellent for the first call to Cummins. I was shocked to speak to an American person on the same time zone as myself from such a huge company. Best of all, they utilize their dealer network infrastructure to get the product to the customer from their closest dealer to the customer. In this case, right down the NYS Thruway from me.

Simply amazing and so very satisfying. :)

In a few months time, when I get the results back, I'll be sure to post it here.

All I can say is WOW! FedEx just dropped off my test kits!

I'm impressed! :D

Now I regret not buying another truck that has a Cummins in it. The sales and support is amazing.

Guess what? My next truck will be powered by a Cummins. Enough said.

So I did the Cummins AMP+ oil analysis and got this as a result. 56,428 miles on the truck when sample was taken. 4,625 miles on oil.

They noted the 12.8 cSt viscosity at 100C in green.

The wear metals seem rather low, which looks good.

This oil was run for almost exactly 1 year from -10F to temps of 90F.

~90% highway, no longer than 3 minute idles.

What's folks thoughts on the fuel dilution and acid number?

My question is that the oil you are using even diesel rated or does that diesel engine not require CK-4 oil?

Great question!

I am using QuakerState Euro 5w40 that meets the MS-12991 Chrysler specification. The EcoD is very specific on the oil and it has to use oils that meets the MS-12991 specs, especially for someone like me who is still in warranty.

So no -- that diesel does not require the CK-4 oil. No mention of it in the owners manual either. The owners manual specifically mentions the MS-12991. Which according to the dealer is what I'm supposed to be running for warranty coverage.

Unfortunately, trying to get oils that have the MS-12991 specification only boils down to a few options.

I'm surprised your dealer is not using Pennzoil Platinum Euro it meets MS-12991

I do my own maintenance. The dealer confirmed as long as the bottle states Chrysler MS-12991 in 5W40, I'm golden.

I also can't find Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5W40 where I'm at for some reason.
