Just a friendly survey of lifted Cummins owners. I am one of a dying breed surrounded by lifted toyotas in my area.

Please reply and show your signatures.

WOWZY - What was all included in your leveling kit? How big a job to install? Can't decide if I want to raise the front or lower the rear with shorter blocks (axle/spring wrap hurts).

WOWZY... .
Please spill the beans on the leveling kit...

I think I may want to go this way myself. .

My leveling kit is a Skyjacker kit. It has 2-2. 5" coil springs and Heckethorn Nitro 9000 shocks. I purchased them from National Tire and Wheel out of their tent set up at the 4-Wheel Jamboree in Bloomsburg,Pa. last July.
My End-to-End dual steering stabilizers were a new set that I already had. The 4x4 techs say that you have to run a parallel mounting system and the End-To-End wont work. They will work after you've raised the front end at least 2". Boy do mine look awesome and they're inherently out of harms way unlike the parallel ones are.

Front Coils:$100. 00
Shocks: $112. 00
Shipping: FREE

This I'm sure was a special deal because of the Jamboree. I don't know what the regular price will be but I'm sure you can find a Jamboree close by that you can spend a weekend gathering pricless ideas for your trucks and buy your lift, tires and wheels at a good price

I took two rolls of film on just lifted Rams alone and the owners of these trucks were very willing to discuss the ease and the hardships of their lifting ordeal. It will also let you know your tire/wheel size limitations.

When I recieved the kit and shocks I thought that I could handle this with ease but after i got my truck on the lift,I wasn't very confident that I would leave the shop with all my teeth in my mouth attempting to remove the heavy duty coils with the rinky dink squeezer that i had borrowed.
So I called my local 4x4 shop and had him do it for $100. 00. Much cheaper than a new set of choppers and no busted knuckles. This included installing the new coils and shocks.

I'm very pleased with the ride height and being able to clear the 35's. As far as the blocks go, the ones on my rig are 4". Some Cummins Rams after '91 had 6" blocks in the rear. My local dealership had to order a slew of 4" blocks because a lot of new owners didn't like the rear height and wanted them swapped out to 4" blocks. At the time they were selling the replaced 6" blocks for $20. 00 a set. I don't know if they're still available. I bought a set just in case I would ever need them. So I say never go lower. In fact I hope to raise it another 3" so I can run 38's and 16. 5x12 Weld Typhoons.

Dodge sold you one of the tallest stock trucks ever built so take advantage of it.

lifted 92' 250

I have 8" of suspension and 38. 5x16x16. 5 swampers on 12" wide bart supertruckers. I use it to trailer my lifted toyOo.

Got the lift..... trying to figure out tires. You spend any time in the sand in this great state?

-Scott

scott, i go to coos bay and florence mostly. I have only taken the dodge out on the sand a few times, usually just pull the trailer to camp and wheel the toy from there on out.

scott the 3rd gen looks great what is your plan on tires? I am thinking about dooing the 22. 5 " semi wheels would the 38. 5" swampers clear for you?

I'm planning 19. 5's at about 36". I'm sure I could clear 38. 5's, it's just a matter of adding more air. :) The width eats you up fast and if something should go wrong with an airbag you wouldn't be able to move. I think a 37x12. 5 would be about the max safe size.

I spend some time in Florence with my 250R trike. I'm got too much in thei truck to be playing on the sand with it.

BTW, Welcome to the boards. :D

I love the look and feel of the Dodge trucks, they sit high stock but a little more of a good thing is REAL GOOD. I like them leveled and lifted, I would love to go higher but I pull a trailer. This is all I can get away with and still fit under my Goose Neck, I have a Ford that is lifted 10 1/2"'s, and before that a chevy with 6".

SRadke

How did kelderman overcome bumpsteer on their airride kit? I'm planning to build my own lift system on my 96 and i'm curious about how to get it to keep my lock to lock steering even with the change in ride hieght.

If my understanding of "bumpsteer" is correct they do it with a pitman arm that has a drop in it. This spaces the tie rod down and there is another bracket that spaces the track bar down. If I'm way off here help me out on the bumpsteer thing. :)

You've got it. What I had planned to do was a high steer knuckle on the passenger side and a custom drag link to locate the axle under the truck but i'm lost as to how to attach it without causeing a bind in the steering because i don't think i can mount it in parallel with the steering links.

SRadke,

It's 11:45pm and it's just hit me that the word i was after was TRAC BAR rather that drag link. The track bar and the drag link lLOL have to be parallel to prevent bump steer. With my projected 10" of travel I wasn't sure how to attach the trac bar without causinmg a bind. Any ideas anyone. I may start this in the offroad section too.
