Competition Twin Turbos For Daily Driver ?

I was watching TV and the program was about the evolution of drag racing. There was a section about the rear-engined fuelers and BLAM!!! The “Light” came on!

You take a Cummins and use one of those aircraft style bolt on gearboxes to double the output shaft rpm to say 7000. Then stick the whole deal in a rear engined drag rail along with twin turbos, nitros, and propane then you add a hopped up cam and a tricked out head. What do you think? Low 6’s maybe 5 seconds even? :D :D

I freely give this idea to anybody who wants it. All I ask is to be on the pit crew and to use my truck as the push truck. Any takers?

Cummins Powered Dragster

If you had this idea, someone else has had it, too. The Rocky Mountain Cummins rep here in Denver has one similar to what you are thinking. I have not seen it personnaly, but have several friends who have seen it run. I think he is running in the low 10's. I am not sure of that. I wish I had more info for you.

Already was done once,,Frank Bradley had a fueler with a diesel in it long ago,,Thats not a new concept,,It was parked due to weight and uncompetitiveness,,It was quite a site to see though... .

oooooh!

Well what can I say? Did any of these guys try the gearbox idea ? I'm still looking to drive a push truck!! :D :D :D

With everything you just added to your own rig... ... ... ... ..... why don't you just add LSD and traction bars to it. You've already proven with just a COMP that you can bake-em for 1000' plus... ... ... ... ... now, let's see how fast you can make it down WITH TRACTION :D

If I remember correctly his digger was a 2 speed transmission like the others were using back then using a mechanical clutch pack,,Car was quite a site to see run and just like the guy a few years ago that tried to qualify a alcohol dragster at the Superstock Nationals with a nitrous fed pro-mod motor between the rails,it evenlually led to something more conventional and competitive,,Bradley did move on to a conventional fueler style motor and did win some national events,,Shame no one has found or restored the unique car,,My opinion these one off cars need to be found and restored for all to see... ... .
