I keep having a fight with my little brother about Ford having ownership or even affiliation with the Cummins engine/company. He has it in his mind that Ford used to have some type of ownership in Cummins. Now maybe they might have some stock ownership or something like that, but we are talking major investment or say in the company. Since he believes this is true he thinks that the Cummins engine originated with Ford. I keep telling him no on this, but he thinks he knows everything. I fiqured you guys would have the answer for this. Poor guy. He doen't even realize how bad he has it owning as many fords as he does.

Thanks

OK, So I did the search and you are correct. There is tons of info on that. I called him to rub it in and tell him I was printing it off to show him proof. He replied saying "they did own some of it because they had stock and that is what he was talking about. " He was fumbling for a little while trying to think of an excuse though. See what happens when you own a PSD. Thanks Bill and others for the help. At least the other brother owns a Cummins.

Right from the Cummins Site :

Does Ford own Cummins?

No, Ford does not own any part of Cummins Inc.

Ford at one time many years ago did hold between 10-20% shares of their stocks. Pretty sure they don't have any shares now.

The Cummins 6b (and others) Engine was a joint venture (Consolidated Diesel Company) product between Cummins and Case back in 1981.

From the Case Site :

1981 Case and Cummins Engine Co. announce their major joint venture, Consolidated Diesel Company, to produce fuel-efficient 50 to 250 HP diesel engines at a plant near Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
