Just called Cummins NW. The quick check is available now. Price with cable is less than 3 bills. With all of the past discussion I thought you guys might want to know. If you go to the cummins website check out the RoadRelay 4. Looks pretty cool>:D

aauurrgghh!!!

They don't say it's available for the III c (thats the color version) PALM , I'm going to jump off a bridge now :(

Truly a sweet device every Cummins owner should have !

On the bottom of the brochure:

"Cummins QuickCheck II software is compatable with PALM III, IIIe, IIIxe, VII and V(additional adapter is required for V)".

I don't think that they would go to the trouble to list all the other styles and omit the IIIc if it were good for all.

Kinda sucks huh. I have a IIIxe so I'm :)

Numbers and Graphs?

Justbeamn, can it display the parameters like boost, RPM, temps, etc. graphically, or does it display numbers only?

Also, how fast does it respond? I image response time is depended on the speed of the Palm processor.

Sounds like a great gizmo! Keep us updated on how it works. I am curious how it knows fuel flow rate.

When you say that the price is under 3 bills, do you mean $300? I can't imagine something as sophisticated as this costing only $300 or less.

Then again, what do I know? I called Cummins NW, and they couldn't even give me a price that they were selling it for. I gave up trying to figure that one out.

If it is less than $300, I'm all over it!

The price is $250 for the program and $30 for the adapter. You will also need the Palm Pilot naturally. IMHO the IIIxe is the best for the buck it has the largest amount of memory. The V needs an extra adapter and the VII is internet friendly (monthly service charge).

SCooke, I guess you will be all over it.

... and you can subtract 10% from that with your Cummins Power Boosters membership.

Cummins Power Boosters

Look on the above page—I paid $35 or $45 at my local Cummins "store" for a lifetime membership and a 10% discount on parts and on service.

Edit—I just looked at Cummins Northwest (http://www.cumminsnorthwest.com/powerboosters/powerboosters.asp ) and they seem to have slightly different rules. I joined at Cummins Cal Pacific and have always gotten a 10% discount on everything from filters to the E-Brake by Jacobs.

SO can we finally get the low down???

Will it read and clear Trouble codes. . ?????

Without this feature... . I must admit it's useless... .

A good set of gauges will give you the info in one form or another.

Cummins can consider a unit SOLD... . + the Palm V adapter If it can perform these CRITICAL FUNCTIONS!!

Larry

I called the cummins power store today. According to them the quick call II will not be aval. until 7/23/2001 at a cost of $299. 95:(

I agree with Larry. It is of no use without being able to read and clear codes.

Does anyone know of any unit and/or software that will read and clear codes, as well as monitor engine functions?

On the Cummins PowerStore site, they indicate that the QuickCheck should work with all III's:

Verified to run on the following Palm Platforms:

Palm Professional (oldest platform), all Palm III versions,

Palm V (with optional adapter) and Palm VII

Remember these scaning devices will only read what the computer is seeing... If you have a Boost control Mod... it will only read what the Mod box tells it the psi is, not the actual... I"m sure the Boxes change other things too, that could give you a false reading. . Its too bad U can't clear the codes with this thing... Maybe U will be able to in the future???

hmmmm????

SWEET! Thanx for the info.

I was wondering though. If say you have an edge or a VA that tricks the computer to think your operating under the correct parameters. Is the Quickcheck going to give you the correct information (for example: Boost pressure and Fuel pump pressure) or is it going to give you the info the computer THINKS is correct?

Just stirring the pot... ... .

Added on edit: Me and tractor were thinking the same thing at the same time. Sorry
