cummins recomendations for blending waste oil

I have been using it out of our cars. I give the amsoil so far to a friend with a waste oil heater, he can burn so much percent of it. we have a lot of cars so the supply is pretty plentiful. Im running 5 gallons in the tank right now and have no sign of smoke other than what the comp makes.

That has been my impression; that synthetics don't burn t oo good. I also use rotella, but the 5-40 synthetic. :{ But I won't change back...

I filter mine through a coffee filter, then have put as much as 3 gallons in a tank.

Both cummins and royal purple have responded to my Qs, that there is not a problem burning synthetic waste oil like that. I keep it to a gallon per tank full.

You are talking 1 gallon in a 35 gallon tank? If that is so, then I could put the whole oil change in the 95 gallon bed tank!

For me, it is easier to pop a paper filter in a funnel, pour it once in a jug, then in my tank than to cart it ten mile to the auto part store and dump it in their vat. Just a note, the tank full with the oil, the motor "seems" quieter. Probably my imagination though. If a person was to use 3 gal, thats 9 dollars savings.

I find the new interest in buring waste oil interesting. Diesel fuel hit $2. 00 per gallon down here in Mexico about 6 years ago... when it was still around a dollar a gallon in the States. I started thinking of ways to lower my opperating costs back then. Now, fuel is more expensive in the States and you guys are just starting to feel what I felt 6 years ago! When you are attacked in the pocket book, it CAN change how you think!!!

How about gear oil?



I have access to about 500 gallons of oil, but it's mixed engine oil and gear oil.

I would think that it would be ok, I would just keep it minimal because of th eviscosity.

I DO NOT recommend gear lube!!! I have tried it and it did not burn well!
