Just curious if anyone else has had an issue with Cummins Rocky Mountain in Denver like I have or if it’s just me they don’t like. I have been a customer of Cummins RM for years with My 1990 for power flushes Valve adjustments Dyno tests etc. but mostly parts. Never had an issue at the old location, great service. They recently moved to a beautiful new facility and the parts department apparently didn’t move with them!!!!

I bought my 2002 on January 5th and went to Cummins RM within a week trying to stock up on Fleetguard lube oil, fuel and air filters.

Everything was on back order. I have been there at least 8 times, I got the air filter and six lube filters but still no fuel filters…. It’s April for crying out loud!

One of the guys at the counter has really chapped my butt with his attitude. I am a “booster member” where membership gets you a discount on parts (if they show up).

Anyway last week I asked the guy “how they service customer vehicles in the shop for fuel filters if you can’t get any in” after a momentary blank stare he said something lame about getting them from Kenworth, And that the manufacturer is behind on production of the filters... could be true?

I have been in their computer for back order on fuel filters for I would guess at least 6 weeks with a note to call me when they get in…. Still no fuel filters.

Last week I called Geno’s Garage and have two Fleetguard FS19579’s on the way all the way from Georgia. No B. S. and Ups tracking says I’ll have them tomorrow. Must not be a shortage in Georgia.

I can tell you that yes, the filters are on backorder from Fleetguard. However, if the distributer is persistant and wants to do some extra work, he can get them in by other means. Thats what we have been doing here.

Thanks Lanthony

I feel better knowing I wasn't just getting a line... the extra work part isn't to visible though. Does "that's what we have doing here" mean You work for Cummins in the Portland area?

Tell me Lanthony why would it take three and one half months for Fleetguard to get caught up on production? The reason I ask is if I'm looking at this kind of potential delay, I should start looking for more filters now with the mileage I put on. Or is this highly unusual for a Cummins shop to have this problem keeping stocked.

Well, it's unusaul, but the delay is because Fleet guard buys the plastic caps for that filter from an outside vender. The vender went tits up on us, so now they are in the prossess of getting them from a diferent source. As you can imagine this could take a few weeks and did. I talked to Fleetguard today, and they said they are expecting to start filling backorders the first of next week. -Lane-

I've been trying to get a Fleetguard AH19037 airfilter (BHAF) thru the local Kenworth dealer who deals with Rocky Mtn. Cummins, and it's been over 3 weeks and STILL no filter. :-{}

Sure wish Geno's would sell these too! Oo.

I've been dealing with RM Cummins, since I bought my truck back in April of 2000. I have not had an issue with them yet.

I just went in a couple of weeks ago to buy a fleetguard oil filter for the wifes truck and still no issues.

I hope things get better for you. .

Well Kev

It's been frustrating with all the out of the way wasted trips... one after I called and someone tells you there are seven on hand from the computer, so You drop by that night after work and the parts counter says they don't have any.

I would be willing to bet guys like Lane who answered the backorder question above would have looked into it and told you why you weren't getting your parts instead of being told, and I quote "You aren't the only one waiting for these you know" The majority of those guys are great at Cummins RM. But this fuel filter deal left me thinking they (parts guys) couldn't care less. I'm overreacting I know and Lane has explained why all the way from Portland Or.

In Cummins RM defence, even here at Cummins Northwest It really depends on who you get on the phone that matters. There are 4 of us who work really hard to make sure our customers are happy, and to represent Cummins as well as we can. Then there are a couple that just cruise through the day. They do there job, but not more than the bare minimum. I'm sure it is that way most places you go, regardless of industry. Sad but true... .

Jim,

I totally understand your frustation.

Maybe this will help you out. With the frustration you have had from them, whenever you need anything... let me know before you make a trip down there. I live just down the street from them and wouldn't mind stopping by to help you out. If it means, I buy the product and you pay me back... oh well. But at least you won't have to stop by to find out they don't have what you need.

Hopefully that would save you any wasted trips.

Seriously... let me know if I can help out. I'm not trying to defend RM Cummins... just trying to help you out, so that you don't have to waste the trip up this way for nothing.

Hey Kev

Sometimes I just need to vent… I’ve done that. Everything is OK now. :D Thanks for the offer but it isn’t necessary. This sounds like a unusual filter issue for fleetguard, by the time I stop whining the filters will probably be available everywhere again.

Jim,

Would you like some cheese with that whine? ROFLMAO

Sorry buddy, I just had to pick on you. Seriously though, if you ever want me to run down there for you, it is NOOOO problem.

BHAF

Roadranger,

Send a PM to Bigdaddy. He has information about a TDR members deal for the BHAFs. They want about $10 less than RM Cummins wanted for it. I called them the other day and had to laugh at the conversation.

Me: I am a TDR member and was told to talk to you about airfilters.

Him: Let me guess. You want the AH19037?

I guess they're getting alot of TDR orders.

Cummins RM Denver

I had a terrible time with Cummins Rocky Mountain last May.

I made an appointment for a dyno test, just to get a baseline. I waited over 4 hours for a 10 minute dyno test. They did not even hook up to the ECM. All I got was horsepower and crankcase pressure. One technicain said "everything is fine" another said "it's down on power". I later learned the technician that normally runs they dyno was not there and someone with no experience was doing the dyno test.

The good news was I wrote them a letter and got a call from the service manager (I forgot his name). He offered to give me full credit for the test ($92. 50). Plus he offered to personally supervise another test whenever I could schedule it. This was nice but the rest of the staff there treated me like something that had just crawled out from under a rock.

I did not go back, instead I bought a Westach boost/pyro. Everyone I speak to seems to agree, if it makes 20 lbs of boost it is making the normal power (all stock, no BOMBing).

Good luck

Bill

Me too!

I also had a bad experience with them. Much like Bill's.

Wouldn't give me a definate time for the Dyno, but said to get there early. I did at 0800. They finally got me in and finished at4PM and they did not give a crap. It would be a last resort for me to go back there.

Fuzz

They told me the same thing

I was told to get there early too. They said if I got there early they would get right to me. So I arrived a 7:30AM. They got to me alright.....
