The Sept 08 Diesel Progress has an article about Cummins decision to use SCR for it's medium and heavy duty trucks in 2010. There's a new DPF using copper zeolite which they intend to use and supposedly this route will allow better fuel economy. Not sure if this would be applied to the 6. 7, but seems with all the EGR problems it may be a better route.

Couldn't find the online version of Diesel Progress but this link has some info on it:

Cummins to use Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) across the board in 2010 | Fleet Owner

Some really interesting information in the links at the bottom of the page of the link on your message. Looks like our trucks were used as guinea pigs for Cummins and Dodge. Wonder if they will retrofit our trucks with the new emissions systems in the future.

The Sept article from what I have read talks about the 15 L engine for class 8 trucks and that this platform might move into their mid range engines... . as we all know the 6. 7L is at the bottom of the list when it comes to HP and torque over some of these larger engines... . they even talked about their development of the new 16 L engine for off road use... .

My personal feeling's on this is that the DPF/EGR works in the 6. 7L now that some of the bugs are worked out... and that they will continue with this technology for at least a couple more years until they refine other methods, which I read as better and cheaper.....

As Freebore states, they are saying the move to SCR in the 15L engine is to provide up to a additional 5% increase in mileage over the existing technology they currently use...

They do have a websight... . Diesel Progress Online | Home Page for those who might wish to look... and there is great article on solar and wind generation back on page 84
