Question: What will happen to the DC warranty if I take the bad boy to a cummins dealer that "tunes" it up?

After adding the EZ i would see why you don't need a tune up. There was an article in the Truck Trend last month and it had a great looking dually featured. The article mentioned taking the truck to the Cummings dealer and the HO was tweaked.

Can that be done without an infringement on the warranty? What is actually done? Doing these type of mods what happens to fuel economy?

As others have posted, you play, you pay. The EZ box has a good history with not causing problems. As I understand it, they really look for the boxes that tap into the pump wire. However, I did take my EZ out for the one trip to the dealer I had to make in 15000 miles (recall, broken alternator bracket and buzzing speaker). I also have an airbox mod and they said nothing about it. However, if I was to lose the turbo I am sure they would.

My last two Ram Diesels made 150,000 miles with minimal dealer work anyway. Nothing was ever done with engine directly on any of them except for a crank position sensor. I am comfortable running the EZ on mine and knowing (although highly unlikely) that I may have to be my own warranty station. The EZ box is worth every penny in my opinion.

I had not read the article and will look for it.

And... .....

I am not sure what Cummins did to tweak the HO, but it would be my guess that it may void the warranty as Dodge does the warranty, not Cummins. The EZ box can be installed in 5 minutes. It is as easy as unplug this and plug in that. The performance increase is pretty amazing. If I keep my foot out of it when the extra umph is needed, I actually saw an increase in fuel economy.

thanks for the insight and posting. Will try to find the exact article, month and pages. Like you I too have an air box. Noticed a little improvement not alot like the advertisemnets.

My reason for this is prior to the recall for the "cruise control" reflash, my truck performed beautifully, 22 mpg and would try to break the wheels from 2 nd, 3 rd and 4th. After the re-flash 17 mpg poorer high rpm turbo spooling.

I hop ethings are well in Alsaka. Thanks for the input and opinions.

:D

I did not notice a thing after the reflash, with or without the EZ box. I know there was some discussions about some dealers not doing it right.

By the way, there are EZ boxes for the 03 on ebay now for 425. 00. Good luck.

Just because a "Cummins" shop worked on it , doesn't mean the warranty isn't voided, even under a Cummins warranty. If anyone enhances fueling commands in any way its over.

Other Cummins products: Warranty is void on uprateable engines if the warranty uprate fees' aren't paid.
