Cummins V6 & V8 report

Ran across the Cummins/DOE light truck/clean diesel progress report.

Thought it might be of interest, and so post a couple links.

that would make a great 1/2ton truck engine. mate that to a nice silky smooth manual trans and you'll have a fun sport truck

The report shows the V8 tested in a Ram 1500, and the V6 installed in a Durango. The V6 seems to be farther along in achieving the goals set for it. I would love the V6 in the Dakota and Durango. Talk about a sweet mid-size vehicle for city use that could still tow a reasonable load while returning decent fuel economy! The V8 in a Ram 1500 would also be a very nice option.

Tests show 22 and 21 mpg combined for the V6 and V8.

I like the V6 numbers for a 1/2 ton truck. The V8 looks sad compaired to my old 2001. 5 HO at 505 ft-lbs.

I know Cummins has been out looking for customers for their new V engines, including the likes of ski boats mentioned in the other thread.
