Cummins VE pump seals

I have a leak in my 1990 dodge Cummins VE pump from the seal towards the back of the truck. I am trying my best to learn how to do this, but need some tips and much help if possible. I need to know if I have to pull the entire pump off to access the rear seal, and if I do, how do I set the timing of the engine and everything I need to do it. Help would be appreciated! This was my dads truck and I’m trying to get it on the road again as he passed away, I’m 17, trying to put this truck into tip top shape. Just need some clarity and any info, videos, pictures, suggestions, tools I may need, would be amazing. Thank you
