Got a cup smoothie from Geno's for my 2005. Problem is that there were no instructions with it, and Geno's is closed. Can anyone tell me how this is mounted in the 2005? It fits into the console, but how is it held in place, and how to you get the lid to close when it's installed? My console lid will not lock with the smoothie in place. Is there some kind of adjusment to the latch? :(

Crown and Coke or coffee?

Velcro

Rick,

My cup smoothie came with a strip of velcro. It's used on the bottom of the smoothie, and tape the mating strip into the bottom of the console.

I've read other posts that said you can turn the locking stem to raise it up and allow the latch to work. But I couldn't get the stem to turn on my latch. I don't really need to flip up the console, so it isn't a problem for me. Sorry I can't help with that issue.

Hope this helps,

John

Rick,

I had a cup smoothie on my '98 and I had to turn the stem to adjust it upward so the lid would latch, don't know if it is the same for the '05. Geno's told me to take some pliers, grip the stem and twist it upward a little. Said it is common, most need a little adjusting.

The lining under the lid of the console pops down so that you can get to the latch. Latch removes with two screws - put enough washers between the lid and latch so that the lid will latch easily when you close it down on the smoothie. It took me a while to get it shimmed just right, and with large fingers, it's frustrating to get the washers in there...

Thanks... I knew there must be a way to get to the latch, but it isn't very obvious. I'll give it a shot tomorrow... :)

That works on the 2nd Gens, but the 3rd Gens are different... Thanks for the try... :)

close the lid down on the cup smoothie, then smack the lid just above the latch with the palm of your hand... it should latch then... . that is what i do with mine on my 04...

Raising the console latching stem?

LOL - Yeah, well it didn't work on mine either. If I ever need to flip the console up I'll probably get frustrated and tackle it again.

Good luck with yours. The cup smoothie is a great addition.

Regards,

John

I just installed a cup smoothie on my 2003 yesterday. I could get the lid to close 25% of the time if I smacked it hard with or without washer shims under the latch. This was until I had to pry the lid off because the latch spring hook got bound up :-{} #@$%! . After I got the lid free I ended up taking a Dremel to the smoothie portion under the lid release lever. All is good now!

Hey Julius it sounds like you have had a rough weekend.

Yes, but I'm drinking beer now! I really hate simple mods where a bit of custom work needs to be done after the fact. Major mods, like turbos, I can understand. A cup holder?!?!

Anyhow, the bright side was I got my second oil analysis done and the results are even better than the first one I emailed you. Silicon was even lower at 4 ppm, compared to 7 ppm previously. Still getting the high potassium (lower than first analysis), but for grins and giggles I sent a coolant analysis in to Cashman too. Once I get the coolant analysis back I'll post everything on a thread. Did your friend decide anything on a turbo upgrade?

BTW, get the Juice... you know you want to! :D

I still don't know what he's gonna do for a turbo and as far getting the Juice/Attitude... ... . shhh my wife is here in the room with me and isn't too happy with my bombing virus. :-laf

Just washer under the latch. My 05 lid closes very easy as if it was stock. Really nice to have the cup right at arms reach, not down on the floor.

Had the same thing happen to me, and I also had to "dremel" the portion under the latch knob. Not a very good fit for this truck... Maybe it's time the manufacturer take another look at this and see if they can make it better...
