After replacing the return and supply hoses for the second time in a little over a year, I finally found the reason for loss of prime. Installing a new lift pump has cured the problem. The truck has 102598 miles on it. I'm the second owner and believe this is the first time the lift pump has been changed.
Anyone who thinks they may have to change their pump may be wise to spray the line fitting on the top of the pump that goes up to the fuel filter with Kroil or penetrating oil before trying to break the fitting loose. I didn't and twisted the line off. Replacement cost is $28. 00 plus the cost of new crush washers (seals for the banjo fitting ).
