I'm lusting for a new truck. Looking hard at a 2014 Laramie 4X4. The truck in my sig has 293k miles and is just about perfect, both mechanically and cosmetically. Brand new, not reman Bosch injectors less than 20k miles ago, Garmon transmission refreshed by Jeff at the same time. New 2012 steering box and linkages, and a new column to get rid of the cracking noise when turning. Redline shockproof fluids in the diff, oil changed every 5k and so on. Very over maintained truck with some good upgrades and driven responsibly. New ball joints, brakes motor and transmission mounts. New transmission cooler and radiator, hoses etc. Basically, if it needs anything, it gets done. Any ideas on what it would be worth? Most people that see it guess it has less than 100k miles on it. Oh, and it has heated leather Laramie seats in it too.

#1. Yours is paid off.
#2. You know everything that has been done to it & all its quirks.
#3. Has all the nice upgrades & does get better mileage than new ones.
#4. 293K is nothing for these engines
#5. See #1

I hear you, especially on #1. :). I'll be retiring in about 10 years and my company will buy me a new truck. Figured it is time.

The 2003 HO is a sought after truck you should get top dollar for it if you sell it yourself.
It would be a hard decision to let it go but what I've been reading about the 2010's on up especially the 2013's and the 2014 coming out there is alot more truck and frills and thrills, with the def being used and injection event fined tuned the egr doesn't have much to do and the DPF doesn't need to be cleaned out as much and better mpg.

I have been considering the same thing. actually have quotes from 3 dealerships laying on the table right now. My 06 model has almost 60K on the odometer, but not at many mods as yours. If your truck is salt/rust free and is well maintained, theres no reason you cant get 22-25K for it. I have been offered 33K cash from one person and 35K from another person for mine. That being said, I am starting to get cold feet about buying a new one.
As CRABMAN said, see #1, I have not had a payment since 09 and its been nice. The 2014 Laramie I have quoted is completely loaded and has all the fancy buttons/switches. But I am starting to decide that spending 5-7K on my current truck on leather, navigation, color matched door handles etc might make me jsut as happy as a new truck.

Older photo. Still looks the same :)

Before re-doing the company graphics. Fresh all over repaint after hail damage. State Farm paid around $8k for the repaint.

Light upgrades: Bi-Xenon headlight retrofit, Hella Rallye 4000's with 50W HID's.

Yup, it is rust free, and as close to new as a '03 could be.

Got HO, you have a very, very nice '03 there. I can't tell you not to buy a new one since I have that itch myself, but that looks like one that I'd have a hard time letting go of.

I know. But I have the itch :). As I said, rust free, leak free and needs nothing. I have it in my shop right now for a tire rotation and balance, and can't find anything it needs.

Someone make me an offer :)

The new ones are nice, 2013 and newer. Would not touch anything prior to that.

The only issue that is million mile umbilical to a competent dealer they come with, competent being the operative word. It is impossible to change an ignition switch on these new platforms without dealer tools and programming.

Hence the reason why I haven't pulled the trigger on a new one just yet. They may as well have a "Do Not Open. No User Serviceable Parts Inside" sticker on the hood. I know many will argue that point to me, but being someone who has historically done the majority of the work on my vehicles, these '13+ trucks scare me a little.

Got HO, VERY NICE truck! That would be a HARD choice to make... By the way, I REALLY like your grill guard, what brand is it?

Grille guard is a Westin. I bought it about 8 or 9 years ago. Pretty flimsy as issued. I had to reinforce the center plate with 1/4" flatbar so I had a sturdy mount for the lights.

That's always a concern. I'm in the repair business myself (German cars only) and it's a constant and expensive challenge to stay current with software, tools and repair information. But, the same things were said of the 3rd Gens when they debuted.

In all seriousness. If you do decide to sell, when you decide what you want for it, PM me. I know of several guys who are looking for 5.9 powered 3rd gen 4x4s.

Point well taken.. I can remember guys searching for the remaining 2002's because they were afraid of the 3rd gen common rail technology.

Ask a lot.. Seems like they go for around 15-18ish. I'd put it up high.. Then when you get offers for more then you expect it makes the new truck look like an awesome deal.
