Just hired a new person and was browsing for a truck nothing special, but I always try to check out the other stuff showing up.

I have 3 local dealers within say 40min, probably a few more that are not in my current browsing set up.

I've noticed a real drop in inventory physically on the lots and also on the web sites.

All 3 have also drastically changed their web set up, 1 won't even give you any pricing or window stickers without registering your name and email. And it states they will contact you, which is fine I've gotten alot of vehicles from there and have a direct sales person already, but I prefer to be a more informed buyer and look over some of the window stickers and the sorts and try to make sure I qualify for the rebates that they are showing.

Its really painful to do what was really simple a few months ago.

Not sure how everyone else is making out inventory wise or anyone looking and seeing a different trend.

There are some bulk dealers little over an hour from here might have to switch over to something like that, these are the smaller places that I see this at.

We have large GMC/Buick, Ford, and a Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram dealerships within 10 miles of the house. The CDJR dealer has a pretty good selection of Rams and Jeeps right now, but not much of anything else. The Ford and GMC dealer are pretty much sold out of everything.

Much of this stems from Mexico. Everything is going to hell in a hand basket and the Mexican President shuttered Ford plants in Chihuahua. The president reduced all plants to 50% capacity weeks ago in an attempt to curb the spread with the threat of completely shuttering them if the spread of the virus doesn't subside. The small Ecoboost engines as well as the Power stroke are made at Chihuahua.

I would start at the RAM web site for inventory. It's how I found my truck that was missing from the dealer website: buried in a back lot and forgotten about.

I would avoid dealers that require your information to "see" things. Just another way to abuse and sell/SPAM your info. How arrogant and disrespectful of them.

I’m sure the media blast of the Ram heavy duty sale isn’t helping things. I haven’t seen what’s being advertised since I got my 04.
Tim, what exactly are you looking for?
I pass by 2 dealers in nj and they always had a ample showing on the front line. Now? Not so much.

Basic 1500 4WD 4dr, white in color, might just pick it up local to where the tech lives in Texas and try to register it out of our Texas office. Right now I have purchased out of NJ for all our stuff and register out of NY. Then the trucks and cars go all over.

The issue is if I don't get then NY inspected every 2 years they won't allow us to register them, have that issue with one or two right now that are on the west coast. There is a process to allow for local inspection but with Covid that process is all delayed.

Tim, if you are interested, I can pass along the contact info for York. They can be very aggressive with pricing, when they care to. When my buddy bought his 1/2 ton they blew DSM out of the water, and not by just a little bit.

York Dodge in Prescott has 92 trucks in stock, and 48 of those are HDs.

Both of those have decent stock. Yeah Dimiano is still showing one new lone 17', wrong color.

I downloaded the Texas paperwork and will have to contact the local office that does the registration stuff and see what they need to do a Texas deal. Don't want to pay the tax twice. Plus save me on the shipping or driving from NJ to TX.

We have folks pass thru York every couple weeks from NJ to Ashburn, VA, we have a semi-home base out of there since 2013. And we used to race at Lincoln Speedway years ago.

I used to go pretty often 78-81-83-15 down to Leesburg to get to Ashburn. Its a nice ride.

There is also a Krown dealer in York as well so that might be a good option on our next NE vehicle. That seems like a decent process to get done. Aside from DIY fluid film or wool wax. This one is going to be staying in TX.

Good to have options. Would have to check if they would do the NYS Reg, there are some good places like Plateman that do it all, I found out the hard way to have the dealers handle all that stuff. There is no cost savings for your time when it comes to DMV.

Word: the AZ DMV got a new computer system. It's a FUBAR Cluster ... AZ "Lost" all my paperwork on my 2018 so I had to resubmit the paperwork for the plate discount we get. Further AZ completely "lost" my buddy's 1993 pickup. Just trying to renew the tags on it. He has to take the title in and get a new plate for it. This has been an ongoing battle for 2 months on his 1993. "Free" 30 day temp tags are a PIA. o_O

Yes, my salesman warned me that the temp tag on the GC will likely expire before the state figures it out. Their new and improved system is super efficient, donchaknow.
