Custom 5th wheel tailgate

I am working on making a custom 5th wheel tailgate, but I'm not sure if the openig size is a standard size. Can anyone who has one, measure the opening of theirs and let me know? I need the width of the opening at the top of the tailgate, then the width at the bottom, then how far down from the top of the tailgate to the bottom of the opening. You can just list the dimensions in that order, no need for a lengthy reply, unless you have some suggestions. Thanks, Ron...

The trucks vary considerably---at least 1st gen to 2nd gen. When I transferred the self-built tailgate from my 93 to the 01, I had to take out 2 inches side to side.

Same with the rear bumper, but there I could not take it out of the center so had to take a inch out near each end.

There was no way the selfmade front bumper would transfer.

Don't know whether all 2nd gens are the same????

Tailgate

The opening is 38" at the top, 19" at the bottom and is 9" from top of tail gate to bottom of opening or 10" above the bottom of the truck bed. bg
