since i want to save money, by making a custom plate,to be able to get a gsk,i did a search and came up with about 300+ posts but, i didn't find too many with any photos, diagrams, drawings,(directions  ) of cut plates, i need visual aids, not a good reader/doer   what tools are used to grind a plate, how much to grind. i want maybe a # 6 or 8? :D

if i overlooked anything else about plate grinding please feel free to throw it in. Oo. can a plate be messed up easily?

thanx.

so many questions :D :-laf :D

I understand the whole saving money thing, but a plate is pretty cheap (and Im a starving college student!). If you really want to grind one, I'd suggest a dremel. It is going to be hard to grind close to a known profile (such as a "#6") unless you have one to look at and measure. Small variations in plate profile can make a lot of difference in performance.

IMO, save the $ and buy a real one.

Oh yea, if you do decide to grind, be carefull about going to deep as the stock plates are riveted.

Yeah I would have to agree that you may as well send the dough. I t was my first mod. Big gain for not so much mula. We have the same truck but mine is an auto. I bought a TST # 6 Good Stuff! Then last year at dyno day J. R. Adkins showed me how to grind and experiment on it. It is now flat right before the rivit. She will pour out the smoke, but i still uuse my #6 most of the time. Have fun bud!
