John,

Don't take this the wrong way because those are nice bumpers, but for that kind of money you could have one made for you that you design yourself.

I had a local guy here in Houston weld me up a bumper that I designed. He used 8x3x1/4" tubing, cut to length, tapered the edges, boxed in the license plate, made provisions for auxilliary lighting, and made mounts and gussets out of 1/4" steel that bolted right up to existing holes in the frame.

All for under $350 time and materials. The only thing I wish I had done differently was used 8x4 instead of 8x3 tubing to make it a little more proportional.

Oh I am with you on that, I just like to post stuff I find that might help out a guy that is not looking to worry about all that. These bumpers seem nice and the place makes some serious equipment besides bumpers so they know there business. Actually I am thinking of taking the pic off there site to a local guy I know and having him build me a custom front bumper just like the one on that site. I really like the way the front tubes rap all the way arouund the fenders.

After seeing "Mactrucks" Reunel rear bumper, i am sold, it is indestructable and cool looking too, he has pics, so i am sure (I hope) he will post them here.

Hey JR,

I've been lookin for something other than OEM also. Those are some good lookin bumpers. I've been trying to find one that doesn't stick way out like a sore thumb. I talked with your dad the other day, nice man.

John,

I just got back from a quick trip to Tok to pick up a 20ft. trailer I left there this past winter.

While I was fueling at Three Bears, a fellow stopped to look at the UTE bed and told me that there is a shop in Kenai that builds some very nice aluminum beds AND!!! bumpers.

He didn't know the name, only that they were in Kenai.

Maybe you could check the next time you are down there??!!

I do like my Reunel rear. Nothing better than 1/4" steel to stop what's coming up behind you. It's also rated to tow 20,000 lbs.

The cost is similiar to the eagle's. But like all options you have to tag on a few - my rear lights were about $180 w/ cutouts. And color matching was also extra.

If I had to do it again I would have to get the Reunel... But with the winch!

Crazy Horse - My Dad mentioned he met you. When are you goin got come meet us all... maybe this fall?? If there where a couple of us we might be able to get on of the local shops to make up some bumpers??

Bob - There are so many welding shops in the Kenai area I could spend all two weeks looking and still may never find em :D There is a shop right past Moose River in Sterling that builds real nice stuff, he is so busy that he closes the shop to new work in the summer. . I was thinking of stopping and talking to him, and then my Dad found another guy in Ninilchik that builds boats for the locals out of Alum. He told my Dad to bring some sketchs by and he would give me a price on a building me a bumper. Did you ever get those rims powder coated?? Does the guy have a tank big enought for a bumper??
