Custom Speaker Enclosure for Quad Cab

I found this on Ebay and thought someone might be interested. IMO the current price is very fair. JL Audio is very high quality equipment.

The price sure went up on that in a hurry. Last night when I first posted it was $157. All in all, whomever got it for $455 still got an ok deal, IMO.

$455 for JL's? They're overpriced and overrated and inefficient. I would like to see one of those boxes though.

I'll agree that they are overpriced. Over-rated and inefficient, that a matter of opinion. I think JL does make a heck of a woofer, but compared to many of the newer subs, they are falling a bit behind, IMO. The enclosure is really where the value was on that deal. I'd say it retails for at least $300.

I have a slealth box and it is awsome. the sound is great and absolutely no one would know it was there. The 12w3 that comes in it is alot more punch than a quad cab needs. It also allowed me to mount my CB right to the box. 455 is more than I paid for mine new but the deal was the only way I could justify it. Pluse the vibration in the seat wakes up unsuspecting passengers.

Ted, I think the one on ebay was the one that goes under the rear seat. I've been thinking about the one you have, as I hate to give up the space under the rear seat. I've read that the center seat can't be used as a seat anymore w/this box, is this because the box isn't strong enough or just because its too hard? I really can't remember the last time anyone besides my 40 lb dog sat there anyway. Do you know what a good price is for one or a good place to buy one?

it did go under the rear seat and some guy beat me by $5 at literally the last second--out here in the land of the stinkin' rich where everything is outrageously priced--those things have been quoted to me for $775 before tax----$455 was a steal as far as I was concerned---but I may have got lucky and found another set for $450-- plus it matches my int. color the one on E-bay didn't --will know when he e-mails me back---chris

I like the one I have. When the thing came into the store I was looking at it with every one that worked there because they had never seen one. None of us could come up with a reason to not sit on it. It is much harder than the oem seat but I don't think your dog would complain, mine have not. The think is bomber and heavy. The sub in the center seat is a higher quality with a stronger voice coil than the one under the back seats. The only thing is that it takes a more powerful amp. I used a ockford Fosgate 250a2 at 2oms. I could not justify loosing any room in the truck so something of this description was the only option.

As for price I got it new for around 450 I don't know what the list was. I was not very picky because the total system installed with the dynamat they gave me almost a grand off. I did have a guy in wyoming offer one to me at 250 just because he was so excited to get one in circulation I don't know what I was thinking but I did not go for it. The concept of paying for the amps might have been it.

I did not find a place on the net that jumped at me and I don't know were you are. I got mine from Darl's Car Audio on union rd. Cheektawaga(sp?), NY. I have a buddy Scott that works there. If you call there they are a wealth of knowledge and the installers are first rate.

Thanks, I was more concerned about damaging the box by someone sitting on it than their comfort. Chances are if I've got 6 people in the cab, I'm designated driver and no one will notice a hard seat. Guess thats one more thing to add to the wish list.

Hmmm,

I had my box custom built for me at a audio place here. He charged me 350. 00 for the box and installation and on top of that he built a little area in the middle for my jack. It looks really cool. And now I have a couple of Solo Baric Woofers (square) under the rear seat and Boston pro's in the doors. With a eclipse cd player. I went 4x4ing last weekend and was playing cds all day and it didnt skip once and we hit some huge terrain. I give eclipse a A+!

Why not buy one from crutchfield? Molded plastic, accoustically balanced, goes under the rear seat and comes with Two 10" MTX 6000 subs.
