Hi all, I have a 2015 3500 MegaCab and use it to tow a 2017 Jayco 355w. It is my first fifth wheel, and after several trips I quickly realized that I needed better visibility on the rear of the trailer. Luckily mine came wired (power only) for a rear camera so I started to figure out the best way to get a reliable set up. I don't like the idea of having a bunch of extra screens on the dash so I was drawn to the Jailbreak solution that Customtronix offers. All I really wanted was the ability to add a view feed from the trailer to the UConnect screen, so I ended up going with the Black edition of the Silver package since I have no need for the center stop light camera. The silver package came with the small harness, the sofware, and the black replacement emblem for the front with the front camera (and cable) already installed.
I don't have any pictures of the install process, but the hardest part of installing the front camera is 1) figuring out where run the wires into the cab, and 2) how to do it without breaking anything. I tore the supplied camera cable in half and had to spend 1.5 hours soldering it back together. I used one of the boots just to the top left of the break pedal. The software has been great, I can type and address into the nav system while moving, and view text messages when they come in. I just finally finished the wiring of my backup camera on the trailer, I ran coax cable zip tied to the trailer's plug and installed a BNC connection next to the plug in the bed. You can see it in the picture with the dustcover on it. I ran the coax cable through the boot used for the parking brake. The second picture (taken by the wife) is of the view you get when driving. It is very simple to get to as the Jailbreak allowed my radio to believe I had the Cargo Camera, and gave me the button to click to it under the controls tab. I can even view the front came while driving down the road as well. All in all, the Jailbreak cost me around $230 (forum members get a discount) and the camera and associated cables/adapters cost me around $250, although I bought a high end Voyager brand camera ($170). So I was right about at the price of the stupid expensive Furrion Wireless setup that has trouble with long trailers, plus the extra features (front cam, and lockout disable). Since mine is wired I get a crystal clear picture all the time. I highly recommend it. Let me know if you have any questions or want different pics.
