Off Roading Wheelin' with a 3500

Competition Street Racing

After coming across a post the other week about the high speed cut out, I decided to try what they had discussed. I cut the wire on the firewall. Since then I have no speedo/odometer. Is this normal? Will it cause any problems? I noticed someone mentioned about putting a toggle switch in-line. I guess that is so you can cut it off when you feel like it. Anyway I just want to make sure I did it right. Thanks for any help.

Llyod, from all the previous posts about cutting that wire, yes, it will kill your speedometer, etc. . The toggle switch seems to be the way to go there, so you can dis/re enable at will.

I wasn't sure of how fast I was going, but at 3,000 rpm's in OD it it's still pulling pretty hard. I had the wife in with me, so I left off.

If you cut the proper wire you won't disable anything but the 115mph speed limiter. Sounds like you cut the wire coming out of the pcm, reconnect it and cut the one out of the wiring harness on the middle of the firewall.

Reconnect the wire coming out of the PCM (behind airbox) and cut the wire on the wiring harness that is attached to the firewall. It is located on the top portion of the firewall just to the right of middle. I believe it is the orange/white wire..... I am out on a trip at the moment but get home tomorrow and can verify the color.

Good luck,

Doug

OK, the wire is reattached. I see the other one that you mentioned, at least I think so. It is in the block of wires just off to the drivers side of the valve cover

Thats it, and like Doug said, it's white with an orange tracer, good luck.

OK, Thanks guys. :D

BTW-Is it a bad thing when the wife takes your truck to the store and doesn't notice that your speedo isn't working? I wasn't thinking when I left her take. I thought she would mention something about it. Then she never even noticed it.
