Competition Dr. Juran's philosophy

Competition Gaston IN this weekend??

What is the best place to cut weight on a 94 2 Door 2Wheel drive truck. I want to do something with the front bumper but cant find anything. I want to cut all the weight I can from the front.

Twisted.

Glass hood and bumper (I need a glass bumper as well but have not found one) there is a lot of wieght to lose up front if you look hard enough :D

The easiest items to lose are basically what has already been listed:

lose the hood, replace with a fiberglass one

lose the hood hinges, although it now becomes a pain to take the hood off if your alone

lose one battery, relocate the other to the bed

lose the sway bar

lose the AC

There is more, but I think you have to start getting creative at this point.

I have removed the AC (I live in Washington like I need air  ) I removed the inner fenderwells (makes more room for working on plumbing also)

Changed a lot of the front end parts to lighter ones. Moved the battery to the bed.

Cool ... I am in FL so I will be keeping the AC :p This will be a daily driver ... but I like what I am seeing so far. I have hunted for 2 weeks for a glass bumper and all I can find is covers and thats just going to add... ... thanks again... .

I thought about getting one of those "covers" and adding brackets to it to mount without the stock bumper. I have not done it yet. It might work and would be very light :D

Yes RD, if you take the time to read the first post, he is asking for advise on ways to cut weight. Losing the AC will accomplish that. Nowhere did I say that I had removed mine. Any other questions RD?

Friend of mine, not with a diesel, has done this and it worked out well for them. You really couldn't tell it was fake.

Ted-

I DID read the first post, and the rest of them too, for that matter:rolleyes:
relax will ya.

I do have one question though... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...

The sport bumper is the way Jeff went on his race. I installed it and it just slipped on. 2 brackets were put on the bottom to hold it in place. I had to make those. I guess about 20 lbs was saved there.

. . Preston. .

Thats a bunch of work for 20# and I drive in the 3rd most dangerous roads in the US ... . South FL ... . So maybe I keep the bumper and look at other things ... ... ...

Now as soon as I see my parts from PDR I can get to work ..... need to prep the block.

RD,

 I have already wasted to much time with you, so I won't waste anymore.

Twisted,

Thats a good thought, if the truck is still driven on the road much, I would leave the front bumper on also, however you could look into the sport bumper option that Tom mentioned, that would save some weight. I am originally from Florida and I remember how it can be down there in some places.

Twisted,

It gets pretty warm up here in MD also, so I still have my AC too. Of those that I have talked to, I think HOSS has done the most to lighten his. I have gotten alot of info through PM's with him.
