I have a 96 3500 with the 5. 9 cummins - I've removed the cylinder head due to many broken manifold studs and have it at the machine shop to have the studs removed. While there they say the head has several cracks from seat to injector and between the seats so it should be replaced. My concern is that it simply NEVER uses any coolant? I know on some heads these may be considered "acceptable" and the heads can be used. I welcome input on this . ----

Also on the same engine I am replacing the front crank seal and according to Alldata the balancer is simply "pulled off", well I don't seem to see any way to install any kind of puller I've ever used before and Dodge says "just pull it off". Again, I welcome comments/thoughts.

Thanks --- Drew

DO NOT use a claw type puller as you will do damage and may separate the 2 parts of the damper. Undo the bolts and " wiggle " it off. It may be stuck and require some "leverage". Be gentle! Don't forget the cover needs to come off the replace the seal, or it will bend. Shadrach

It's not a balancer, it is a damper and does not have a key since there are no timing marks on it. Just remove the 4 bolts.

Thanks for all the info - IT'S OFF!

I appreciate all the help and look forward to being a member of TDR!
