OK as Ive stated I hav a cracked injector, my question is 2-fold:

Do they have to replace the whole injector or can they replace just the tip?

Also can (or should) I drive this truck till i get it fixed?

The appointment is for August 22nd to get the injectors done, I dont want to keep driving it if Im hurting it. It only smokes first thing in the morning but Ive got diesle fuel leeking down into my cylider. Is this enough to wash down the cylinder walls and cause premature wear??? It doesnt smoke when warmed up just initial startup.



P. S. I lied one more question, if they hone these out to gain me another 50 horse am I going to feel a difference? Ive heard some say they didnt notice a performance gain????
 
DO NOT DRIVE THE TRUCK!!! The diesel is washing down the cylander walls and also disolving into the oil. A classis sign of a cracked injector is your truck 'making' oil.
 
YOu better not drive the truck,,, take JApol's advice and tow that thing to a shop.

If your up to changing the injectors,,,, the mag had a great how to... ...
 
To answer your second question, yes, you'll feel the difference. I requested 50hp gain and ended up with 83hp gain. It smoothed the idle and gained . 5mpg. You'll need gauges. There are lots of opinions on who does injectors better. I went with DDP honed injector tips.

Got guages see Sig. Thanks for the reply. This shop is going to hone in house and replace the cracked one(s)... Cant wait hope its a seat of the pants feel.
