Well after listening to several people opinions, i had my block bored and honed without a torque plate. Cylinders were perfect, bolted on the head to specs, checked cylinders from the bottom and now they are 3. 5 thousanths out of round! What do i do? Block is now . 020 over, I have way to much in new pistons, cutting and coating... pistons to get new ones to go . 040. This is a race engine, high boost, high RPM. Don't want to sleeve all six cylinders. What do i do, need advice fast please.

For stock engines thay never torq plate them and thay run fine. Even diesels but for high performance engines to me its a must to get every last bit out of it. I wouldent be overly worried about it. You didnt read in the service book (This block must be honed with toqe plates on) Its never been in any service manuale ive ever read. And if you decide you just have to have it done make sure thay torqe the main cap also.

everything was done properly, mains were torqued like usual. worst part of cylinder is the top inch, which would be the worst place to have bad ring seal. Head was torqued with studs, not bolts, which will cause more distortion. Will 3. 5 thousands hurt @ 75 psi and 5000rpm??????? engine masters where are you?

Sorry I didnt read all of your post. I would try and sell that block and recoperate some of your money and buy a virgin block and start over. On all of the perfomance motors I put together thay are all torq plate honed. And balanced I also zero deck the pistons not sure if I would zero deck a diesel. You can also try and sell the pistons try and figure out the least amont of money lost. I can honstly say with 75 psi and 5000rpms you want every thing you can get with this puppy dont settle for less. my last post I thought you had a stock engine. Good Luck and let us know what you do.

F8LDOSE were are you from I got 89 eng with a bad #6 needs bored maybe we could work out something if it will help you out any I know piers said he had a bunch of blocks also let me know if I can help you out any George

. 0035" isn't good. For lesser out of round, you could use a Sunnen rigid hone machine and just end up with a bit extra piston to wall clearance, not a bad thing for a race engine. Mike the piston to wall now and unless it is pretty tight, you would end up rather loose if you honed the walls that far. I'm not talking about a hand-held rigid hone. I'm referring to the big machine the block sits in. Of course you would have to use a deck plate to simulate the distortion caused by the head & head bolts/studs.
