Considering the D. Cepek Fun Country IIs in the 35x12. 5x17 variety. Does anyone have experience with these things? Anyone have any recommendations on where to order them from?

Also, for those running a different brand of 35s, what do you have and what do you recommend?

As always, your time and input is appreciated!

Check out the new Pro Comp Xtreme A/T Tires at 4 Wheel Parts Wholesalers.com, I am waiting for mine to come in. I ordered the 325/65/18 with new wheels. WILDMAN

I do tire testing for Mickey Thompson and have been runnig then for over a year now. You can hardly tell There used. They keep there ballance and wear well. There are some pic here on the group. I'm running the 315's and love them. The squarer footprint makes for some great handling. Had the bfg and was glad the day they came off.

Not that particular size, but Dick Cepek tire wear like iron. I'd buy them! The ones I had were on a Ford Stupid Duty, with a Power Joke under the hood. I got almost 50,000 miles out of them.

I like tires that wear like iron so long as they don't ride like iron too! :-laf

Yesterday, I noticed that the mickey thompson website has closeout and blem tires online for order at a pretty significant discount. Definitely worth considering...

Thanks for the comments.

I like the Toyo M/T's, but they are overpriced IMO. . Also, I just put 35's on my truck and I have the 48re and 3. 73 rear end. I personally think it's too much tire for the 3. 73. . It bogs the truck badly once it hits OD at around 50 mph. I personally would not get the 35's unless you have the 4. 10 rear end.

Of course, I think the stock 265s ride a little rough at max psi courtesy of the boys who flipped my tires for me today since I don't care for the white lettering.

Since I don't tow that much and mainly go off-road when I am headed to the hills to hunt, I think the Fun Country IIs in 35s may be just the ticket. Local guy is getting them to me for about 200 a piece which is a price I am willing to pay to upgrade to a larger size and get a few more inches of clearance.

Thanks for the insight fellas.

i have the 35 12. 5 17 fc 2s they seem to wear well give a good ride and do look good but they are noisy. i can hear them all the time. the side walls do flex a lot they are a 50psi max tire witch is what i think gives them the good ride but because of that i would not tow very heavy with them. i am changing them out for toyos m/ts that are on order and going with weld evo velocity 18x9. 5. also 315s are closer to 34 inches so there is a slight differance compared with 35s.

Even with your TST ?

But you did get the 35s.

I have the same setup (without the TST) and don't think it bogs too much. I can cruise at a higher highway speed now and still be in the right RPM range. If I was towing heavy I'd want to add a overdrive for splitting gears though.

I did, but if I had to do it all over, I wouldn't do it. I knew it would change the ratio, but I didn't expect it to change that much since I had gone from stock to 33's with very little difference. Once you hit OD at approx 50mph with the 35's, the truck is at about 1200 rpms and doesn't get above 1500 rpm until I reach about 62-63 mph. Below 1500 is bogging IMO. Since most of my driving is at 50-60 mph, it really was not a smart move on my part. If you are driving mostly on the interstate, it is ideal. At 77mph, I'm still below 2000 rpms, but that brings me to my next point.

Another downside is the mileage. I was told to count on about a 1-1. 5 mpg drop, but my estimates put it somewhere around 4. 5 to 5 mpg loss. With 33's, I could avg nearly 20 mpg at hwy speeds. The best I have been able to net to this point with 35's is 15. 1 at the same speeds, and yes, the ecm was updated for the new tires. At this point in time, decreasing your fuel mileage by nearly 25% is a pretty ignorant thing to do IMO.

25% reduction in mpg is quite expensive... ... ... thats like a $2. 25 cost increase every 20 miles! OUCH! :--)

Well, as you know, MPG varies with everybody. I'm not claiming that my numbers will hold true for everyone, thats just my own personal experience. .

For me, I don't mind a smoother ride at the expense of towing. The tires are still rated to 3000 pounds and the most I pull typically is a bass boat or a couple of 4wheelers on a trailer.

The problem with the Toyos is the price which comes out to a little over a $100 a tire. My rationale is I can do more with tires and 400 bucks than just tires.

Also, I have ridden in a *cough, cough*... duramax with Toyo MT 35s and I wouldn't call them a quiet tire. Not loud for a M/T but still not quiet.

I tow almost everyother weekend. I tow a 16ft car trailer with a cj-8 jeep rock buggie on it. Totla weight is just around 9000lbs. Never had a problem. I also towed a 40ft park model mobile home from so cal to washington and never even felt it behind the truck.
