Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) D-Maxed

Last night when my wife and I were running down I-35 south (MSP to Fort Dodge, IA) a D-Max pulled up along side and wanted to play, he pulled along side and waived then nailed it. He pulled about two to three lenghts ahead then I started closing in on him again. I couldn't get passed due to traffic but the wife wanted me to pass him. We started at 75mph cruising and I started catching him when I got above 100mph and topped off at 115-120mph. He definitely had the jump but the CTD started reeling him back in. Might need bigger injectors



I feel ashamed I let a Chevy get the best of me. I assumed he was running a decent size chip as I didn't think that a stock one would have done that to me.

Sorry to her that but thats why I am going out to get mach 4's or 5's and the stage II water meth kit. I wonder if the hx 40 is going to hold up now

You might,have gotten beat by that D-max,but you sure got a cool wife sitting beside you cheering you on.

Thanks, I couldn't beleive my wife said that. I think I actually did a double take to make sure I heard right. Course she's great anyway because she puts up with me and lets me buy toys for the truck.



I had a lift pump go out in June when I was in Omaha and I set a trouble code of 0216, VP crapping out. I replaced the lift pump with the FASS II and two weeks ago I had the dealer look at the VP and they reset the code and told me to come back for a new one if it comes back. Well today leaving work the DEAD pedal showed up and 0216 is back. Stopped by the dealer and they will look at it next Tuesday and they just asked if my mod's did not pierce any pump wires, said no and they said should be no problems. They said that they needed STAR approval for the replacement. EGT's are 100-200 degrees cooler now, so it's damn near dead I think.



So with that being said, maybe I was a few ponies short with a dying VP? That's atleast what I will stick with, "you only beat me because... . ".



I would love to put in Don's 100hp injectors but I still tow my 5er and I would worry about heat going to big.

The double take probably killed your reaction time, so we'll chalk it up to that.
