I'm trying to put my front brakes back together. The hardware kit for the front calipers has a metal hold down plate, a small 'anti-rattle' spring, and something that looks like a black 'rubber band'. 2 plates, 2 springs, and 2 'rubber band' things for each caliper. I can see, from my old ones, how the hold down plate and the anti-rattle spring go together, but where does the 'rubber band' go?

That is a VERY importaqnt part!!! Here is the proper way to use it. Put one end of it on your finger. Pull back on the other part. Point finger with abnd on it at someone and let loose.

Every caliper hold down kit I have ever had has that piece in it. i have never used it. It wasn't in there when I first took them apart so I'm not gonna start putting something in that hasn't been there for over 10 years.

Got it all back together, without the 'rubber band' things. No rattle, squeak,or other noise. And the annoying shaking from the warped rotor is gone. The front end of the truck doesn't sound like it's going to fall apart anymore either Oo.
