D250 Tires

Those of you with D250s,what kind of tires are you guys running? The tires on my '91 are decent at best,but will probably only last me maybe two more seasons.

I like Toyos, MT or AT. Had good luck with them, and, even though they cost a bit more I think its worth it.

Well, I can't offer a long term review on these tires, but I bought a pair of Hankook Dynapro Mud Terrains for the back of my truck. (aggressive tread) I read reviews and did some studying. The offroading mags had good things to say about them too. They were very well priced compared to other brands. I shelled out 210 each for mounted and balanced.

I second the Toyos. I'm running Toyo HTs and I am happy with their wet weather performance - since I live in the Pacific Northwet.

I'm an independent tire dealer, and I reccomend the Toyo's. The Hankooks are excellent tires, but tend to be extremely expensive. Remington tires are decent, especially for the money. BFGs are probably right up there with the Toyos and Hankooks, but again, I think they're overpriced.

BFG's are junk, the Peugot of tires. I have NEVER had a set of them that did NOT have problems. On a heavy truck they are a joke. Cars maybe or little SUV's but they seem to be problematic on heavy vehicles, and, they cost way too much for what you get. My . 02.

We run the Firestone Transforce A/T's, load range "E" and are very pleased with them. We always get at least 50k out of them, very good road manners and just enough traction for new construction jobsites that our service trucks go to daily, with out being overly aggressive. Our trucks are loaded heavy, but the Firestones hold up better that any other tires we have used--and we have used them all.

I ran Yokohama Geolander HT-S in mine. 265-75R-16 on the stock steel rims.

Very quiet ride, excellent in rain, very durable.

EDIT:

Oh and they were D rated. Much softer ride and better cornering than the E rated Michelin skins that were on the truck when I bought it.

probably the best tires I ever ran on my D250 were the Toyo H/T 265/75 R16 with ford Alcoas. EXCELLENT in Rain. Smooth, quiet, balanced great, lasted a long time.

Currently I'm wearing out a set of Nitto Terra-Grappler ATs in the 295/75R16LT flavor. These are load range D. I actually really like these tires. They are inexpensive and have been a damn tough tire. Somebody slashed the tread on one of them when I had it parked... they didn't even get through the tread. Hehe... several thousand miles later, the tire still holds fine.

I have a set of 37x12. 5x17LT Goodyear MT/Rs that are going on next, though... just have to lift the truck or mod the fenders first.

I've got several sets of BFGs, Toyo's, and Remington's on the ground right now, and all are working good. I currently have the most aggressive Remington tread on my '97 right now, and even they're not enough sometimes. Tires should be selected on how you intend to use them, but also remember, everything has a limit... ...

I wanted quiet, mileage, good in rain/slush, and speed rated becuase I did a lot of expressway driving at 75. I never go offroad, (but I did park on a lawn once:-laf)
