So I am trying to adjust the preload on the wheel bearings on the D80 in the rear of my 98. 5 DRW 4x4 3500, but when I go to adjust the bearing nut, a 2 3/8th socket is too small, and 2 7/16th socket wont fit into the opening.

So trying to find the right socket, I have been to 4 different auto parts stores with no luck.

Could someone please tell me the correct size socket so I can order it from Napa?

Thanks, Ben

I believe 2 7/16 is the right size, but you need to get the socket for the rounded corner nut. They should all have the right one, the outer diameter is just a little smaller than the socket for the sharp corner nut.

DD-1241-JD is the number in my manual for Chrysler socket.

It is 2 9/16 thin wall rounded corner.

I just ordered this one from Sears

OTC 1928

Thank you very much, that is exactly what I need. I did buy one of the thin wall rounded corner sockets at an auto parts store, but it turned out to be too big, proly around 2 3/4”.
