I was in Dallas this weekend..what the $^%# is a UniCard??

Chrysler Classic Super Stock Shoot out!

I have a Norcold 6162 fridge in the trailer, its 120 volt or propane. On 120 it works great, not so on propane. I see a flame about the size of a pea out of the orofice, is there an additional burner and does it fire on demand only. The fridge has an igniter, the orofice is clean.

I was going to post this in the towing forum but this forum gets more action and this is not really a towing or hauling question.

Any and all help appreciated,

Mike

Thats sounds normal to me. Does it get cold? Most have a separate control valve for cooling when on propane and mine has to be turned up from the setting used on 110V. ;)

Sounds Normal.

Mike, It takes my Brand new Refer in the Trailer a while to get cold. Like about a Day.

And the Higher the Elevation the Longer it takes for some reason.

While running on A/C, the refer cools down faster.

I hope this helps.

Doug.

burner

What caused me doubt was listening to a guy at a repair shop talking about a burner with slots, I do not see any such thing just the small flame at the orofice.

So, there is no "burner", just that tiny flame from the orofice?

Mike

My refrigerator has a single, round nozzle that has a small flame about 1/8 of an inch tall in the "pilot" mode, that grows to about an inch long in the "cool" mode. The nozzle is about 3/8 in diameter. It must mix air and propane before the nozzle because the flame is blue, always. It cools the same regardless of elevation.

The pilot flame is so small, it's hard to get lit, if it's windy (you presently have to light it from outside the trailer, through an access door). However, once you get it lit and put the wind guard around it, it won't go out, even if you forget to turn the gas off and drive all day.

It cools better on propane than it does on electricity. It chills much quicker, if you light the burner, than if you just flip the switch to electricity.

Mike,

Doesn't sound normal. Our Norcold has an electronic igniter, but there's a healthy flame visible when it's cooling in the propane mode. It's typical to get orifice clogging from spider webs, etc. (spiders love the smell of propane) or rust or trash in the burner or flue. If you have a pilot system, a bad or misadjusted (not in the pilot flame) thermocouple could also keep the main burner from coming on.

These refrigerators work much faster on propane than on electricity - there's much more heat from the propane flame than from the electrical resistance heating element, and heat drives the refrigeration process.

Faster cool on Propane?

Maybe my refer is bad from the Factory?.
It has a Healthy round flame while on propane. But it seems cool faster on A/C than on Propane.

The auto igniter works great!

One thing for sure,At 8600ft, it takes more propane to run it than when at 200ft.
Doug.
